Incision pain

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone, my name is Denise I heard great things about this site. I just joined tonight! I had my surgery on the 17th. This went well. I do have the shoulder pain. The thing that is bothering me the most is one of my incisions are badly bruised and hurting. Idk if this is normal? My dr office is not open until tomorrow so I have just been dealing with it. The incision itself is healing but it felt like it was in fire underneath it. Is this something that happens?? Also have been getting pains in my calfs, im thinking prob because of the lack of nutrients? If anyone has any suggestions lmk. Thanks so much!!

Hi,

Call your doc in the morning. Redness and an incision feeling hot should be looked at.

Are you drinking your Water? Sip sip sip all day long.

It gets better every day. Best wishes.

I had surgery on the 15th and have a huge bruise around the port and all of my incisions hurt, itch and are driving me crazy. Just watch for extreme redness, a little red is normal, yellow or green discharge......otherwise, I was told this is all normal and if you google image the term "lap band incisions" you will se some other people have the bruise

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
