Fatigue at 10 months out

Recommended Posts

Hi

I am still experiencing quite a bit of fatigue though I was banded last July.

I eat mostly chicken, so I believe I am getting enough Protein. I also drink a high level Protein Shake each day.

I take Vitamins and minerals. I sleep 7 hours a night, sometimes more on the weekend.

After working 10 hours, I just want to lay down when I get home.

My shoulders and upper back get achey if I have to stand in line more than a few minutes.

Ive lost 70 pounds, my blood work is perfect, my blood pressure is also perfect ---the doctor sees nothing wrong.

Any ideas or thoughts about this?

How is your energy level?

I have so much to do today, but all I want to do is hang out in bed and read a book with my cat :(

Thank you for any feedback!

I have found additional Vitamin B, beyond what is included in the average multivitamin, helps me with my energy level.

I was just going to say the same thing. I will add that some people don't absorb B12 well (which I think is the energy and metabolism boosting B vitamin). I would suggest a sublingual b12 that dissolves under your tongue. I heard this is the best way to get it to absorb. They sell them at CVS and various places.

I'd like to know if you see a noticeable difference. If you do add B12 or a B complex, would you come back and post to let us know?

Best wishes.

Hi

Thank you for replying to my original post!

I take sublingual Vit. B-12. I also take a Vit. D-3 spray. It does seem that I am lacking something, but I don't know what. I take extra Calcium with D-3 and magnesium. And a few other things.

I don't exercise much because of an injured knee -- but sometimes I walk, sometimes I ride a stationary bike.

Has anyone found that increasing exercise helped with fatigue?

Ive never been anemic and rarely get sick.

I don't think Im depressed.

Just puzzled.

Thank you very much for responding. It's nice to be in touch.

I still have fatigue at 20 months post-op. I also take sub-lingual B-12. I believe the reason I still have fatigue is because in 2006 I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia (FMS) and chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS). They say the two go hand in hand.

The shoulder and upper back acheyness you mentioned is a symptom of FMS. I'm not trying to diagnose you over the internet, just telling you my own experience.

Yes, I found excersise boosts my energy level tremendously. I highly reccomend it. There are just so many benefits to it, including weight loss. Start off slow, being carefull of your knee of course, and gradually increase your duration/intensity. Hope you feel better soon.

Thank you for sharing your experience at the risk of being misinterpreted :) I appreciate your response and have several friends with FMS and CFS. I could have it -- or not.

I think I will try increasing my exercise to more often and regular -- as part of my day, and see if my body responds.

I'll write again about this when I'm feeling better!

I have heard exercise really helps, but I am soooooo tired! Still, I will be increasing my exercise to daily -- even if it is just a 10 minute walk.

I will have to force myself for a while, I think.

Hopefully I'll see results and I will write back here if/when I do!

Im glad to hear it has been a big help to you :)

I only recently realized this. The other day, I woke up just out of it, and feeling like I was getting sick. I pushed myself and went to my kickboxing class and at the end I was like I feel so much better. It was great!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
