So this weekend my husband went away for a guy weekend and I was home with our VERY active 2 year old. He is at that age that needs to be watched constantly because we all know that silence is not a good thing unless they are sleeping !

Anyway, I feel like this spiraled my routine out of control; I have been very regimented about working out every other day on my elliptical, shakes for Breakfast, small portions, etc. but this weekend it was nothing like that :( Keeping my son at bay was all I focused on - I have not gotten on the elliptical since Wednesday, I have not taken then the time to plan any meals for me, etc. IT SUCKS! I got on the scale this morning and it says I am up almost 5 lbs. WTH! In my mind that cannot be right - I certainly didn't make good choices, but 5 lbs?? I am trying to "own" my mistakes and take charge back, but I feel terrible. I am totally disappointed and have no energy. How do I get out of this rut??

Help...

I'm sorry it has been hard on you the past few days. First of all, I am positive you did not gain 5 lbs. You would have had to eaten like 17,500 calories, and I am sure you did not. Maybe some of what you did eat was salty and you are retaining Fluid. As for the exercise, just pick yourself up, and dust yourself off and the first chance you are able hop right back on the elliptical or whatever exercise you want to do. I know you can do it! Get back into planning your meals. A few days making mistakes is not the end of the world, we all have days when we completely mess up. So get right back on there and take charge. Good luck!

I agree- you didn't gain 5 pounds of fat in a few days. Get back on track and it will fall right off. Best wishes!

Hang in there. It is hard when the routine gets disrupted. Look at this as learning experience. Next time you will know the traps and pitfalls ahead of time and can plan accordingly. Maybe line up a helper so you can exercise. My friend has a teen from her church come over sometimes to occupy the kids while she is exercising or cleaning. The teen loves it, and my friend throws her a few bucks (nothing crazy) and she has a little 'me time'.

The 5 pounds seems a lot. Once back on schedule, it will come off.
