topazz 4 Posted March 20, 2011 What brands do you use for Snacks? The PA at my dr's office said I could use these as a snack. But what should I look for? She mentioned Balance. Do any of you use these?? What should I look for in these bars??
TexasNurseMom 5 Posted March 20, 2011 Not sure about Protein Bars. But I like the Fiber one 90 cal bars for a snack. They are Peanut Butter with chocolate and help mr get my much needed fiber. I don't have a prob right now getting enough Protein.< /p>
vlp1968 83 Posted March 20, 2011 You want one that's high in protien- I use Myoplex lite- 20 gms of protien. You can get them at Walmart. They do have 20 carbs. If you are going very low carb Atkins bars are a good choice. Hope this helps.
TexasNurseMom 5 Posted March 20, 2011 How many cals are they? Most I have seen are around 200 cals which is a lot for a snack when you are on a strict intake.
all4gizmo 2 Posted March 20, 2011 I shop at Diet Direct.com. they have Protein bars that are 15-170 cals and 15 grams of protein and they're yummy. they have many other protein products. pretzels, drinks, shakes, puddings...etc..
cheryl2586 3,053 Posted March 20, 2011 200 calries is not a lot for a snack if that is all your eating. I buy zone perfect and I havent had a problem. Of course your not going to eat 3 or four a day just one. If your Breakfast, lunch and dinner is about 3 to 400 calories then a Protein Bar is fine that is 200 calories. But then again that is my breakfast most days.
topazz 4 Posted March 20, 2011 What about Kelloggs Protein bars? They are 190 calories, 10 g of Protein, and 25g of carbs. Too much?? The dietary exchages for this bar is Exchange: 1.5 carbohydrate, 1 fat, 1 lean protein.
stateofzen 46 Posted March 20, 2011 I eat a Zone Perfect bar almost every day for breakfast-- 210 calories, 14g Protein. If I were doing it for a snack, I'd probably stick to the the Fiber One 90calorie bars, but that's only because 200 calories is about twice the amount I want to spend on a snack. For you, that might be the perfect amount.
cheryl2586 3,053 Posted March 20, 2011 You have to look at the sugar content on them. I would go for the higher Proteins not just 10 grams
CheckYes 46 Posted March 20, 2011 I like ThinkThin bars. They have zero sugar and are gluten free and each is about 200 calories depending on the flavor. My personal preference on flavor is the tangerine cremesicle which tastes like an orangesicle or the chocolate mudslide. I buy them at Whole Foods but I think you can get them at Trader Joes and perhaps other health food stores. I only eat them as a last resort - meaning I have one in my backpack but I won't take it as a planned meal, it is only if I start to feel foggy or weak that I will eat it. I prefer to get my Protein from actual meals rather than bars. http://www.thinkproducts.com/2011/
