can you eat frozen yogurt?

Recommended Posts

You can eat it but it's really wasted calories and won't keep you full at all. I'd look for sugar free/low fat.

If you want a pretty healthy "frozen yogurt" try mixing greek yogurt, casein Protein, and cool whip. Mine comes out to about 200 calories, 38g Protein :)

With restriction I couldnt eat frozen yogurt or ice cream - the cold made my stomach cramp up. But I disagree that its wasted calories as long as its decent yogurt - good source of Protein and Calcium. Also, when you compare the fat content in a low fat and a full fat yogurt, its often only a gram or so and only about 30 calories difference - but the low fat has way more sugar. I'd tend towards no added or low sugar more so than fat, you dont eat enough yogurt (or you shouldnt!) at a time to really make a huge difference. Its the same with most ice creams - when you really label read, its hardly any saving of calories, a lot of extra sugar and a pretty second rate taste for the low fat vrsion..

I agree with Jachut. Choosing a good quality frozen yogurt is not wasted calories and in my experience , at restriction is no less filling than regular yogurt; pretty much the same consistency; just frozen. I also don't choose fat free in any food product for the reason Jachut gives. When you choose lowfat, you often get additives like sugar or fructose corn Syrup which add calories and take away from the natural flavor. Frozen yogurt is typically lower fat anyway, just watch the sugar content.

I love fro yo! I have to be careful with the toppings because the cold I think constricts your stomach and then the toppings can get stuck. This is a nice treat for me. I usually end up freezing most of it and going back to it later.
