missmeow 156 Posted March 19, 2011 What are the typical tests before getting a lapband? Should I be concerned if I do not have to go through a bunch of tests or should I consider myself lucky if I do not have to do any tests? I am in good health: low blood pressure, excellent blood sugar, cholesterol is OK.
JAM2YOU 2 Posted March 19, 2011 Blood work, EKG, psych evaluation, sleep study and whatever else your insurance company may require. Alot of them require a 6 month dr. supervised attempt to loose weight. In my opinion at first I did not want to wait the 6 months because it was sort of a let down but I truely believe I am much better off for going through the process and making sure everything was ok and I did loose 20 lbs in the process which told me I was really ready for this. The whole process has been a journey that has given me more confidence about my willpower and i'm thankful for it. Good luck with your journey as well. ElizabethNYC 1 Posted March 19, 2011 I had to do stress test, EKG, blood work, psych. eval, 6 month diet history, breathing testing, 2 sleep studies, 2 support groups, PCP clearance, endo clearance venous duplex anddd I think that's it lol. Every insurance company is different. I was frustrated that it took me about a year and a half to get everything done but it makes you stronger and I'm glad I had to do it all because I knew so much more that I was ready for the surgery when I finally got a date. Princess_Gottalose 1 Posted March 20, 2011 My test were a lot different from the ones listed above.... I had to have a chest x ray.. an endoscopy, ultrasound of all my organs, blood work, EKG, 2 nutrition appointments, and a psyc eval. But what my doctor did that i liked the x ray, endoscopy, ultrasound, blookwork and EKG were all scheduled for the same day!
