I was banded March 2nd and was on liquids for two weeks and started mushies yesterday. I was dying for chinese food and I had it finally yesterday. I had steamed moo shou with sauce on the side. I was fine when I weighed my self.. i stood the same 25 lbs down since surgery. Today, I had liquids all day and had a little of the left over chinese food before class. Than six hours later I ate a little more and still have plenty left for tomorrow, but I have gained six pounds. I am so upset and I feel so guilty for eatting! Is that normal? I am so discourage and I do not know what I did wrong. Should I wait to eat until I get my first fill.. even though the first two weeks were tourcher..

Why are you on the scale more than once a day? You do realize when you eat the scale is going to go up, right? My advice: stay off the scale. Weigh yourself once a week and no more as you'll only drive yourself crazy. Trust me. Been there done that.

Right now is the healing time, not the losing weight time.... I have been there myself about two weeks after my banding date, when I could eat real food and the weight loss slowed down, it was hard to realize that you are still swollen and healing..... You will start losing again just give it time. I used to weigh myself morning, noon and night....... I drove myself crazy. Now, I only weigh myself on a certain day of the week. ( to help my own sanity) GOOD LUCK

thank you for replying so quickly... my boy friend hid of the scale from me and we are going to do it together on Sundays.. I just feel fatter than usual now...I also need to buy a digital scale. I have one of the older ones and I think its time for an up grade. So, I guess I am not eatting to much??

Also chinese food has a lot of sodium, which will make you retain Fluid. I usually am up on the scale for up to 2 days after eating chinese food. I know this, so my "official" weigh in day is Tuesday, so I will not eat chinese food on monday or sunday. Seems weird, but I don't want to be up on the day I track my weight

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
