Can you describe heartburn?

Recommended Posts

My doc says heartburn is not normal and to report it but what I am feeling doesn't exactly feel like heartburn and at times it doesn't make sense for it to be heartburn...

1. It feels this way first thing in the morning

2. Feels this way when I am hungry and at that TOM it is worse

Is this the description of "feeling tight"? that I have read about?

I just feels like there is a 10 lb weight on my chest...no burning, no nausuea or sick feeling...but I just don't know what to call this feeling. Can anyone relate?

Been paying close attention to the feeling all day...I am thinking it is gas because when I burp...it gets better....how odd!

I have had the luxury of only having heartburn at one time in my life. 6 years ago when I was prego. The only way I can describe it is really a burning feeling in my chest and sometimes it would radiate to my throat.

Good luck I hope you figure out whats going on.

I am going to describe it and ask the doc but I am now almost certain it is just the feeling of the band being "tighter" because it is happening more early in the day now and I think it's sudden onset/increase is due to the hormonal changes of that time of the month. Yeah...one more thing that PMS gives me...lol. So I am just trying to go with more soft choices and it seems to help. Not really fun though. I hope it doesn't make me have to put off my fill for another month but whatever the doc decides is best. I just keep telling myself that.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
