Happy St. Patty's Day!!

I am getting my band tomorrow morning at 8am~ so I am hoping that my surgeon is not a big St. Patty's day partier! :o

My plan has been to return to work Monday morning, when I mentioned this to one of the nurses on the phone she seemed to think I was crazy! The surgeon said that it was possible, but up to me; although they reccommed a week. I have a desk job with no heavy lifting or bending. What have your experiences been?? How soon did you return to work, or feel up to it??

Thanks!!

I have the same question, I get my surgery the 29th of mARCH and I am curious about how long before i can go back to work. I was thinking that following Monday.

I have seen several people post they went back to work after only a few days. I know this would not have worked for me. I took 2 weeks off (I have a very stressful job), but I know for sure even with just "a desk job" I would not have been able to handle a full time job only 3 or 4 days out. I absolutely could have gone back this week, but am glad I took it off too :) The follow up appts with my PCP and my surgeon are much easier :) Not to mention a week off work is just nice! :P

I had my surgery on a Tuesday and I was back at work the following Monday. I was feeling much better by Saturday (on the 5th day), but I was really glad to have a couple of extra days! I did wear yoga pants and a non-underwire bra for the first 3 days of work. As long as you can go back with the understanding that you might not make it the whole day, you should be fine!

Thanks everyone for the insight! I think that I have a pretty high pain tolerance-was up and around and able to go home the day after for both of my c-sections; and this seems much less invasive. So I am hoping to make it in; at least for a little while on Monday~atleast that is my happy thought for now; I'll let you know how it goes.

I've got a desk job as well that does not involve heavy lifting or bending. My surgery was on a Thursday and I returned to work on Monday. HOWEVER, the Friday after I was out with my gym friends for dinner (they were eating... i was drinking a Protein Shake lol) and the Saturday after I was doing light Zumba for 50 minutes. It depends on how you feel! Don't push it, but don't lay around either. Luckily my co-workers were very understanding because the first few days back to work i was very burpy and had to get up and walk frequently to get the air out!

I'm a teacher and went back to work right away. I had my surgery on a Saturday and went back to work Monday. I spend some time standing during the day and some time sitting.

Was it the easiest thing in the world no. Was it super hard no. I just had to take it easy going up and down stairs but other then that it wasnt too bad.

I tend to be a baby if people care for me so living alone and working right away helped me toughen up and I recovered fast because I was moving a lot to help get rid of the gas.

It is possible! Don't worry.

My doctor today has recommended me for the lapband surgery. I am scared to death of any kind of surgeries.

Is it something I have to be scared about? should I go for it? how many incisions will there be and will there be anything showing outside of my stomach other than an incision?

I had my surgery on Monday morning, I managed to fly home and resume life pretty fast, however my doctor reckomend taking at least a week. I took two just to adjust to the band and let my incisions heal. Have you had surgery before, did you recover quickly. Best of luck.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
