Instructional Video???

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has any information on an instructional video or tutorial of some sort that I could give to my Doctor. He is willing to learn how to do my fills and handle my post-op care, and nothing would thrill me more. It will save me hours on the road...since I would have to drive at least three hours to the nearest fill doc. Also, he is willing to charge me for a regular office visit. Would love any feedback!:help:

You should probably have him go on-line and contact Inamed. http://www.inamed.com/

or he can call them: 800-624-4261 (that is the Product Support number - I am sure they can transfer your doc to the appropriate place)

Thanks so much for the response and the valuable info...I'll pass it on to my Doc. Do you think that it is a better decision to have someone local that is willing to learn to do my fills that already handles my health care or do you think it's in my best interest to go to a doctor that is comfortable doing fills? I just liked the idea of having someone 5 minutes away rather than 3 hours. Plus, I love my Doc and was thankful that he was willing to do something like that for me.:)

Hey, if your PCP is willing and able to get certified to do fills - GO FOR IT!! That is optimal, as far as I am concerned.

Really, the surgeons are busy doing surgeries - and you DEFINITELY will want someone local to do after-care.

Besides, unless you live in the farthest back woods - he can probably use the skills to make some additional cash from other local bandsters.

Hi, Almost Ready! Yes, he can purchase a "learn how to do fills" kit from Inamed. It is exactly like adding medication to any implanted port and cancer nurses do this, and he may have even done this in his medical training if he is a bit younger. He can probably find someone willing to supervise his training and maybe Inamed could even help him with suggestions.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
