Guest trinaksmith Posted January 10, 2006 :cry I'm going to have the surgery done, just starting out and really scared. Any words of advise?
Iluvharleys 15 Posted January 10, 2006 Start reading everything you can about the surgery. There are lots of threads here telling you how peoples surgery went, what to expect, what to eat and more. A lot of us have actually posted exactly how the surgery was done. Once you do a good research you will feel better about the surgery. You will be nervous, after all it is major surgery, but it is only normal to be a little scared and nervous. It's just when you know what to expect, things are not so scary. Good luck and keep us posted.
Shellybelly 0 Posted January 10, 2006 Betty, can you point me to where I can find your post on how surgery was done, and maybe the first couple of months after? Like Trina, I am a bit nervous about the whole deal (course mostly I am excited and fantasizing constantly about being able to hustle up the subway stairs without having to pant for half hour afterwards just to catch my breath )
Guest trinaksmith Posted January 11, 2006  Thanks for the reply. I'm a sponge reading anything and everything I can about the surgery. It amazes me how many things I've read, how many people who's story exactly matches mine. I couldn't believe it. I really appreciate your support. My family is very supportive, but I have one relative begging me not to have it done. That doesn't help when I'm already scared to death. For me there's just no alternative. I will keep in touch. Thanks again Trina
ReneBean 3 Posted January 11, 2006 Chin up, Trina. The one relative probably thinks you are getting the by-pass surgery - or something with the same risk-factors. Most folks are un-aware and un-educated about the band. Send them here if they continue to harass you about it. That person is probably just worried about you, and doesn't know about the Band. hugs!
