Hello,

I was banded on 3/3 and finally will be entering my Mush stage here in a couple days. I too like others I have read, am hungry!!! I spoke with my Dr and he said it was fine and not to expect to lose more weight before my tightening, so don't get discouraged!

But I am excited to finally have some real food (mush)

Can you all give me some ideas of what you had on Mush, so I can get some variety and not bored with cottage cheese, eggs, and soft fish! Bring on some flavor hahahahahaha

Thank you in advance!

Try ricotta cheese baked with spaghetti sauce and mozzarella. I liked black Beans mashed with salsa, cheddar cheese, and a little sour cream. Hummus. Cottage cheese baked with pumpkin and sweetened is good as well.

You may think that this sounds crazy, but I put chili in the blender! I wanted some so bad...it was the best thing I had eaten in a while!

I am back on mush (revision surgery) and made egg and chicken salad before surgery on Monday. I put the eggs/chicken through the food processor and mixed with Olive Oil mayo and then some FF ranch to moisten it but keep the Mayo use down. I added salt and pepper and had egg salad for lunch and the chicken salad for dinner. I also make ham salad. I but low sodium ham from deli counter and have them cut it thick and also run that through processor with relish or the FF ranch.

I also make the baked ricotta, refried Beans and chili too., Try not to get in a rut. It is tough though. Pot roast run through food chopper is good too.

Ah Chevy, I remember the day (and it really wasn't that long ago lol) moving on to mushies :D Betcha never thought you'd be so excited to use a food processor :P Believe me it can become your best friend during this stage...

As for ideas, most of what everyone already said I had... I was (and still am to a degree) a HUGE pizza fan, so I experimented with diff cheeses, both soft and shredded, low sodium pizza sauce, and lil bit of oregano, garlic and red pepper, all pureed/mushed in the fp... yummo!

I also loved chili with a lil ff sour cream and cheese blended in the fp...

Have fun with it and be sure to try out seasonings and spices with your "creations" (watching sodium if you have HTN like me)...

Good luck!

Chili! I didn't have to blend it.. but you can if you want. oatmeal is great! and you can flavor it so many different ways. chicken salad, egg, salad, tuna salad are all good too. For me, I liked things that were "meal like" I didn't like eating mashed potatoes or Beans as a meal.

Ended up at Boulder Creek last night. I was at a loss as to what to get. I was going to get Soup. Then saw the meatloaf. I explained to the server my dietary needs and she had the chef make it very soft and moist. I had that with a potato and brought most of it home. It was good!

Just made a new mushy!

It is a variation on chicken salad...

I bought a large can of Bumblee Bee chicken packed in Water. Drained it well. Threw it in food processor w/ FF sour cream and BBQ Sauce. Sort of a south western taste. Almost a little too mushy. Might really dry the chicken or use the pre-cut chicken selects that will be drier.

I have also been playing w/ cottage cheese....(ick face)

FF Cottage Cheese/splenda/vanilla/ cinnamon. I put it in food processor to smooth it out. It is the curd texture that grosses me out. I am trying though since it is great for Protein and low prep..

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
