Hi,

Welcome and congratulations on your band. I know it's frustrating when the weight doesn't slide off immediately but be patient with yourself. Everyone responds differently to their band. I was banded April '06. I lost 30lbs almost immediately and stayed there for a year and a half before I lost anymore weight. Then all of a sudden the weight began to slide off for no apparent reason. There was no dietary changes or changes to my physical routine. Please don't get discouraged! Give it time. Allow yourself to adjust to your band. Allow your fill to settle in and see if you need additional fill. If so, go get it. You will know what adjustments need to be made as you go along. The first few months are really trial and error for a lot of people until they figure out what works and what doesn't. Just don't give up! You've come this far - you gotta keep going until you hit the mark!! Keep your chin up. Keep us posted on your progress. Make sure you go to tickerfactory.com and create a weight loss ticker so you measure your progress on the forum!

Thanks for the encouragement. It helps alot.

Scheduled for my 2nd fill this week and can't wait. Have had a rough last week and a half. Guests in the home with foods that I had elminated from the house because they were a problem for me. Now that they have left I can discard these foods once again and get back on track.

Don't get discouraged. I was banded on 01/06/11. I lost 16 pounds the week after. That's when it showed up on the scale. Then the scale did not move, but I saw the inches flying off and felt thinner. About 4 weeks later, I lost a pound. That is the way I put it on and the way it came off in the past. When you can add exercise and I mean anything more than you are doing now, you will see the difference. When you are down about the weight, just blog us. It is great to hear others story to keep the faith. Your body is readjusting everyday. I am now down 19 pounds. Oh yeah, I got my second fill a couple of weeks ago, but need another one. I'm 48 and mother of two adult boys.

Ladies stay with it and don't get discouraged. It's a process and some ppl lose quicker than others. Many, many of us reach our mark by getting banded. When you've made this type of investment it's too hard to turn back and say forget it! You've got to make the adjustments and continue forward. If its another fill, exercise or dietary adjustments that have to be made - MAKE THEM! Just don't give up. When you go to the link and see those Before/After pictures you know it can be done. Yes, I have had the purging (not vomiting it doesn't come from the stomach it comes from the upper part of the esophagus) and it can be annoying at times but I've learned to work around it. The band is working - it means I don't get to eat all the things I'd like to eat!!! I am not complaining as I lowered my goal weight from 150 to 135 because I continued to lose more than anticipated. Trust me the benefits far outweigh the drawbacks for a person who is truly fed up with being overweight. Hang in there, things do get better! Just my two cents.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
