missingunc 0 Posted March 14, 2011 Hello. So I have made the decision that I want LapBand. I have been to the information session, recieved referrals from my doctors and I am currently waiting for my June consult appt. I am questioning..my current weight -- should i just maintain my weight or continue to try to lose weight, im thinking i def should not gain any more weight. Any thoughts or ideas you have to offer would be great. What did you do when you were waiting for your consult?
eko 1 Posted March 14, 2011 What does your insurance require (if you are not self pay)? Sometimes insurance requires 6 months of "supervised" diet. I did it with my PCP who sent the monthly reports to my surgeon. You could get a head start on that process, you do not need to lose a lot of weight during that process. You could also maintain. Depending on your weight and BMI, if it is high, losing a few pounds will help reduce risks during surgery and give you a running start. Good luck!
Jodi_620 37 Posted March 14, 2011 My insurance didn't require any supervised diet for approval and I was just a few pounds within BMI weight to qualify so I did not want to lose too much or I might not have been aproved. So based on that I did not diet until I was approved and was put on the pre-op diet.
