:DHi Everyone

I have been a lurker on this board for way too long -- unsure if I wanted to actually go threw with this or not

well to make a long story short - have all testing done and now I am scheduled to have the procedure done on March 28 , 2011. Not sure of the time

I have gotten all of the preop testing done, and just have to go to the hospital for class on March 24.

My surgon is Dr Spencer Holover

I am - nervous, excited, scard , thrilled, nervous ( have i said nervous 2 x ) and a happy all at the same time

Here is a little bit about me -

My name is Jennifer , I am from Long Island . I am 37 years old - married 10 years to a great guy .

I have two beautiful daughtes 9 and 9 months

I can not belive that I am living in this body - This fat body - I am a skinny girl dying inside this fat body ...

I sometimes pass by mirrrors and think WOW that cant be me, but the scale dont lie --- I kept on growing out of my clothes and shoes and started to wear stretch pants and big sweaters -- I wore my maternity jeans up untill last month and my daugher is 9 months already --

Well I have been thinking about getting this done for years now - and I am finally at the point in my life where I dont want to be the fat mom, or the girl with the pretty face .........

I wanted to ask , what are some of the things that you have packed for the hospital to make the stay ( have to stay 1 night ) and what were some of the things you had in the house that can make life a little easier for when I come home.

Thank you for listening to me tell my story !!!

Cant wait to start the journey with people who understand

love

Jenna :D

Welcome and congrats on your date! At the hospital I brought Gas-X strips, loose clothing (tshirt/sweats) to go home in, a book, my iPod, my phone, slippers/socks, and that's about it. I didn't have to stay overnight though. A pillow to hold against your tummy for the ride home is good as well.

When I got home I was best friend with my pain meds for 3 days, Gas-X, and a heating pad. Some people choose to sleep in a recliner; I slept in my bed as sleeping sitting up is not for me.

Good luck!

I, too, had to stay overnight and I just stayed in the hospital gown until it was time to go home and then I just wore some very loose sweats and an oversized t-shirt (I didn't even worry about a bra). I took gas-x strips, slippers (for walking the halls), cell phone and charger, my Kindle, and personal items (of course). Have whoever drives you home bring a pillow with them - it is very helpful during the drive to cushion your stomach from the seatbelt. For when you get home, a heating pad on your stomach makes it feel better.

That's about all...good luck to you!

Hi Jennifer!

Welcome to the site. I was like you and just lurked around the message board without ever chiming in when I first joined. I'm slowly getting acclimated and feeling more confident making posts.

I am getting banded on March 22nd and have to stay overnight as well. I have already packed my bag. here' s what's in it:

1.Stetch Pants and a Pull over top

2.Ugg boots (easy to slip on)

3.Toothbrush and Toothpaste

4. Underwear

5. A book to read

6. MP Player

I'm packing pretty light on purpose...

Some of the things I have in my house so I'll be ready to rest when I get home are:

1. My post-op prescriptions (my surgeon prescribed them for me last week and I am gettting them filled today)

2. chicken broth

3. plenty of popsicles

4. Protein shakes

5. Apple juice (100%)

6. pudding (for week 2)

7. Protein Water

8. Herbal Tea

I hope this helps! Good luck on your surgery and here's to a speedy recovery!

Cheers!

Diandra

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
