childrens motrin

Recommended Posts

Ive been having some dental problems and tylenol isnt doing much for the discomfort. I know we (lap banders) arent supposed to have ibuprophen, but what about the childrens version. Think it would harm my band if I tried the liquid childrens motrin?

Paula the Advil Liquid Gels work wonders for toothaches and tooth pain..just be sure to wash it through your pouch very good with a large glass of Water. My Dr. told me on occassion ibruprofen is OK, as long as it is not sitting in your pouch dissolving..

I was told that Ibruprofen is fine too.. just to wash it down with a lot of water... the Childrens motrin is in liquid form so its goes down much faster.. still need to rinse out your pouch with a glass of water...

I never take whole pills anymore.. no matter what kind they are I break them down to much smaller size and take them with 1 or 2 glasses of Water.< /p>

I use it when I get a Migraine and nothing else works. Tylenol just doesn't seem to cut my pain very well- while Advil works like a charm. I always drink a bunch of Water after and haven't had any problems.

Good luck!

I too am a user of the Advil Liquigels. They work fast and I like the fact that they don't sit around in my pouch as well.

I hope you get to feeling better very soon.

Rinse, rinse, rinse! Ibuprofen is murder on your stomach lining and can really irritate it. I wouldn't use it definitely just after a fill or after a PB episode when your irritated anyway. I cannot tell you how many ulcerated stomachs we have seen from NSAID Abuse. Everyone used to think ulcers had to do with spicy foods, etc..but most all we see now are from one of two reasons. Either viral bug called H Pylori or NSAID Abuse. NonSteroidal AntiInflammatory Drugs...aspirin, advil, ibuprofen, etc....

For years, people have reasoned that their doctor gives them a prescription for an 800mg Motrin and it has 800mg of Ibuprofen in it....so why not take 4 of the 200mg generic Ibuprofen from the store. We have seen awful GI systems from this....the main difference is that Motrin has the proper buffering agent in it to allow you to take 800mg safely..the other doe not.

Please, please be careful and definitely wash, wash it though the pouch, but remember that its still in your stomach.

I've taken the childrens ibuprofen, 20ml (which = 400mg) and washed it down with a full glass of Water when nothing else works. Tylenol does nothing for me.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
