girlnextdoor 0 Posted March 12, 2011 I have just begun the process for weight loss surgery. I have two consults scheduled for next week, one in Bakersfeild and one in Fresno. I am hoping for a quick approval but it may be a long process. My BMI is 36 and I have Blue Shield of Ca PPO. I have had weight problems my entire life and am looking forward to a solution. reverie 49 Posted March 13, 2011 Good luck. The time really depends on how long it takes your insurance to approve of surgery and their requirements. ie. 6 month diet, etc.
Barbara Duncan 0 Posted March 13, 2011 I thought about it and thought about it and finally I sat in during a seminar. There was a woman smaller than I eating McDonald's and I thought you have got to be kidding me. I can't believe this lady is in here with McDonald's. Doesn't she realize we are a group of hungry people. Doesn't she realize the change has to start now. Making good choices, like choosing surgery and choosing to change your life FOREVER. I was determined to make this happen, so I scheduled an appointment with my pcp, had a blood test, ekg and a long talk. At the end of the meeting, he asked me if I ever considered lap band. He noticed, I had been on a seesaw with my weight over the years and gave me the name of a surgeon. Well, nonetheless I did a lot of research and I decided on someone else, I went to meet them a nutritionist and a mid level provider who were very supportive. The best thing I did was START the journey. Now I have a surgery date 4/4/2011, and I am still doing a lot of research. It seems there is a lot of info out there and the more you read and talk to others the more comfortable you get with your decision. I am down 17 pounds, however, I am hungry and wondering if I can make it on the pre-op liquid. I can only say, stay focused and informed. Good Luck to you.
