littledutchee 0 Posted March 12, 2011 I was banded 2 days ago on March 10th. I came home frome the hospital yesterday afternoon. All in all I think I am doing ok. I am finally starting to rid some of the surgical gas, but I am very sore which I know is normal. I have this uncomfortable feeling in my "throat" area. I really think it is the upper part of my stomach where I was banded. It is probably from my stomach being swollen, but wanted to get some feedback from people that have been banded already. Sometimes I feel like if I could have a good burp, I would feel better. Is this feeling going to go away or will I always have this "pressure" feeling? TexasNurseMom 5 Posted March 12, 2011 It will go away bibwas very burpy the first week or so but am 4 weeks out now and much better. My throat was very sore and uncomfortable. I think it was partly swelling and gas and partly throat irritation from the intubation and anesthesia. It will get better hang in there!
Mommyto1 1 Posted March 13, 2011 It will definitely get better. I had some gas pains after the surgery and Gas X strips and peppermint tea helped. If you're feeling tightness in your upper chest/shoulder area, try a heating pad that worked great for me.

Since then (6 days) I am dying of hunger. I am following the full liquid diet to the fullest of my ability, but I am painfully hungry all the time.
AlienBandit 10 Posted March 14, 2011 During surgery they stick a tube down your throat and put gas in your stomach. It might be from the tube or the gas that is giving you problems. For a few weeks after my surgery I was having a feeling like I could burp or a choking feeling that was freaking me out. My doc checked me out again and again and said it was just from the tube and there was still gas in my lungs so I had to be patient. It finally went away but what a pain. You're not alone!
