Feeling a Little Down....I Just Dont Understand

Recommended Posts

I just dont get it, ever since August 26, 2005 (my band date) I have been doing great, my knees havent hurt, and my wrists and shoulders and TMJ havent been bothering me as much. During Christmas I had gotten down to 209, my knees and wrists starting hurting again yesterday....now I have missed 2 days of school since last Tuesday! I just dont get it, AND!!! Ive gained like 4 or 5 lbs without any changes to my eating (Im not eating any more than I was, in fact Im eating less). Im soooooo discouraged right now, I thought I was fixed (well kinda) I knew that a fall or extreme activity could push me over the edge, but I havent done anything but start school after 2 weeks (and I worked the entire 2 weeks at Factory Connection!) When I started school I have to take this class called Foundations of Personal Fitness, it's upstairs and it requires hand-writing assignments....Ive only done a partial assignment and have been sitting out from the gym because of my knees and my surgery was less than 6 months ago.......I dont get it.......the class isnt even upstairs anymore..............Im confused.............I dunno, been crying all day from the pain, I cant take anything because its all in pill form..............SO CONFUSED...............I think the weight gain may be from the swelling in my joints.:)

How long till you can take medication by mouth? I take 8 different medicines but then this old lady is not a kid anymore and knows it. I know what crying over pain is all about. I deal with it all the time. I'm hoping this surgery gives me a new lease on life. I thought you only couldn't take pills for a little while after surgery. Someone please answer, how long till you can actually take medicine. Aside from my Nexium (which is a capsule and you aren't supposed to dissolve it) I take pretty small pills.< /p>

Help someone...can I never take my pills again? That wouldn't work for me, and I'm so looking forward to this surgery and some of the pain being gone.

Ask you surgeon what pills you can take. Most say you can't take anti-inflammatory (NSAIDS) like Aleve, Ibuprofen, aspirin, etc. However, if you can swallow it, then you can take it ..for the most part (whole, crushed, or liquid)

Jodi, suppose your increased activity from beginning work and school has put stress on your joints? I know you're unsure about what is causing the pain, but the flare-up may be from the new activity. I've always felt this way, when I start a new job and have to be on my feet for extended periods of time. It's like you need to get "in shape" for standing all day. Give it some time, and see what you can take for pain relief. Good luck, Shawn

Just a hought, but how close to your time of the month? Since banded, my "time" I gain Water weight, and feel like crap. The band tightens and I have more restriction so I feel fuller faster, even on the water amount per day then I try to eat and YUCK!!

good luck hope you feel better.

Jodie & Dody, You need to check with your pharmacists to see if any of your medications can be administered in liquid form. If not, ask if the pills can be crushed. I would think that a pill would have to be pretty small to go through the band.

Most meds are available in liquid form. I was told that I could take pills that were the size of an M&M or smaller. I take tylenol and break them in half and have never had any problems with that. I also take cold meds with no problems. ~Mandy

I'm able to take Nyquil liquid caps, and I'm decently tight with my band. Jodie, you might talk to your doctor about taking pills, you should be able to take some.

My back never bothered me before I started losing weight, and now it bothers me decently often. Someone explained to me that it's the same kind of thing a pregnant woman goes through, only backwards; your body supports you in a certain fashion and sets how you balance yourself, but when your weight changes, it has to readjust that, hence the pain.

I find it highly likely that you got alot of relief by losing weight, but now your body has readjusted some and therefore you are back in pain. You'll start dropping more weight again and probably feel better again soon. I also second the question someone asked about whether it was your time of the month. I can jump a good 4 or 5 lbs within that time frame.

Feel better

My doc told me not to take any kind of pill ever again....and being an AP Chem student I kinda understand why lol! I feel like crap....Im going to see if there are any and I MEAN ANY other tests that they can run on me for just about any disease imaginable........I went into freak out mode last night once I realized I may not be able to use my hands to write in a few years! If there's nothing wrong with me, then why do I feel pain? I dont know when my time of the month comes, its inconsistant because I used to be on BC, but my body rejected the hormones and screwed me up so.........I dont feel like Im retaining Water at all except in my joints, they are swollen like crazy, then go down, then swell back up.................who knows..................

How is your Water intake? My joints get really bad when I am dehydrated, and holding Water, which also causes me to gain 4 or 5 pounds. Increase your water and flush out the bloating you might be experiencing. You might find that the liquid helps your joints too.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
