Does decaffeinated tea count as water?

Recommended Posts

I suggest u check fitday.com or myfitnesspal.com. One should check facts before making a statement.

Goodness! Why didn't I look here first?!

Soooo dits4golf...who "checked their facts" and who are we going to go with? The people who we trusted to make the thing we now have around our stomachs or a generalized website with no affiliation to the LapBand? Hmmm...hard decision.

See www.lapband.com/en/resourcecenter/detail/284 for information below. (Clicking the link won't work. Don't know why. Search Resource Center for "Drink to Your Health" @ www.lapband.com)

First three days after surgery: Sip Clear Liquids

"I recommend sugar-free drinks like Crystal Light, which comes in lots of different flavors," Dilks says. "Propel Fitness Water and Fruit2O are also good choices."

Three days to two weeks after surgery: Enjoy Full Liquids

"At this stage, you can drink beverages such as skim or 1 percent milk, Protein Shakes, strained low-fat cream Soups, Tomato Soup, vegetable juice, and low-fat, low-sugar yogurt without fruit, seeds, or chunks," says Dilks.

Post-recovery: Keep It Going

After the first two weeks or so, you can continue to drink many of the same beverages you've been enjoyingwater, black coffee, unsweetened tea, Crystal Light, and low-calorie flavored waters. The key is to try to stick to zero-calorie drinks as much as you can. You want your calories to come from healthy, satisfying foods, not a cup of sugary drink. So avoid high-calorie beverages like juice and flavored coffee drinks.

Sure !!!!! It's made out of water.......

I found a method to their madness of getting in 64oz. a day, and it even blew my surgeon away.

It's to hard to get a 10oz glass of this or a 16oz of that, and keep figuring throughout the day I told him." Really,,, and what do you do that's so special?"

I'll tell you. I take a Ice Tea jar, and fill it every night to the top, Then the next day I make sure I use i/2 of that gallon for my drinks, Soups, shakes anything.

By the evening if it's not 1/2 gone I will take a tall glass and it's done. Then I wash it out and fill it over again for the next day.

Boy ! ! ! was he impressed! He said he was going to suggest that to his patients, to make it easier to monitor their Fluid intake.

Now it's shared with all of you.

Try it, and good luck.

Shirley.

Shirley,

I do the same thing! Measuring and keeping track of my liquid intake was such a bother! So I took a 64oz. apple juice container after my husband drank his sugary drink :P , and I now fill it up with Brita Water each night. No measuring or keeping track!

And about the water vs. tea thing...if I were asking about Hawaiian Punch or Kool Aid, I'd say I wasn't taking losing weight too seriously. However, steeping a tea bag in water doesn't exactly change the water too much.

Thanks to everyone who came out to give me a supportive opinion...as in nice and positive. I do not mind opinions that aren't what I want to hear because I have learned a lot that way. However, tact and kindness is always appreciated! Thanks for your supportive reply, Shirley!!!

Kelley

You are Welcome !

Sometimes just plain Water tastes good and then other times I enjoy Lipton sugar free Green Citrus tea or Crystal Lite...I count it all towards my daily hydration goals! I am 35 pounds from goal and I ran 8 miles today in training for a half-marathon...I guess I must be hydrated :)

Everything one mixes with Water has cals. Ice tea, coffee, Soup, etc. Water is the only thing with ZERO cals. I'm not trying to be a purist, but water is water.

I don't think calories were even the issue here. I think the issue was getting in enough fluids. The last time my son was ill, there was concern over dehydration and they didn't care whether he drank water or juice...it was all good. Obviously we don't choose juice because of the calories...but the point is that when they tell us to make sure we're getting enough liquids, they aren't talking about just water.

No ! ! They weren't ! Seems some people go in the wrong direction, or are stuck on calories a little to tightly, to even get off point.

I said it before, and I'll say it again Water is water ! Now if you want to get into bottled water, spring water, well water, galvanized pipe water, copper, plastic ,or city Even in this, there are differences. Whether it's high in Iron, or Lead.

It's still your choice, of what you want.

The same thing happens with sun tea. That's a couple of tea bags thrown in a gallon jar, (NOT A CUP) and let it sit in the sun. It has a unique taste. Lemon 0 calories. per slice for a glass, Lyme's the same.

If you get a couple of calories out of coffee? ??????? I don't know, because I don't drink it. But black, I'm sure is no big deal.

Were not talking about pop, or Kool-Aid.

Every one has different stuff to work with. I have natural spring water. Now if you tell me "THAT HAS CALORIES ! ! !"

O well,,, that's life, I can't change the world.

You shouldn't try to either.

If I were to deny myself of simple things like iced tea or hot coffee, this would have been a very long journey. IMHO some people make this much harder than it really is or than it has to be. A simple 5 calorie drink is not going to doom 100 pounds of weightloss.

When they say Water, they mean Water. If u r going to cut corners, u may as well give up, 'cause u r not ready to take losing weight seriously.

Let's try to be a little more supportive and positive please.......

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
