Does decaffeinated tea count as water?

Recommended Posts

I have so much trouble reaching my Water goals each day when I try to drink plain water. I cannot have lemon, lime, etc. with my water. However, I do love and drink lots of Decaf tea. Does it count towards my water goals? Thanks for the advice!

I say go for it. It can't hurt, since you are getting liquid and you said you will drink decaffeinated tea.

I drink quite a bit of tea and you bet I count it as water/fluid. I drink very little plain Water. I have never had a problem with dehydration.

I don't bother with Decaf. I drink the real stuff. I'm sure the decaf would be better.

Pick 10 'experts' and none will agree on whether tea or coffee, carbonated beverages, etc. are allowed to count in the daily liquid intake and will come up with 'reasons' why. In the last year there has even been controversy over whether we really need the 8 eight ounce glasses of Water. I mean, really, who comes up with this stuff?

Personally, I find if I drink 64 fl oz of water...whether Decaf tea/coffee, Crystal Lite or water...I feel better. I noticed no difference when I made sure it was all 'water'. Someone else may feel the same with half the liquids. Some may be ok with caffeinated. Some may need more. Listen to your body and do what works for you.

When they say Water, they mean water. If u r going to cut corners, u may as well give up, 'cause u r not ready to take losing weight seriously.

No, I was told "water-based liquid" by both my nutritionist and my surgeon. Right in my handbook that was given to me by the surgeon it lists Decaf coffee/tea, crystal lite/wyler'slite, and diluted fruit juices. Therefore, I am not "cutting corners" as you assume, but following doctor's orders.

That said, considering how different surgeons are in there instructions, I think your comment was uncalled for.

All those drinks start as Water with flavoring added. They are close to 100% water. So, they do count as water. Most any diet will tell you that. All we do is try to make it more interesting by adding flavors for variety. You're more likely to get your full allotment of water if you enjoy drinking it.

Boy dits4golf, aren't you the expert doctor and mind reader. I am glad you were here to inform me and others that we are cutting corners and not taking the loss of weight seriously. What would we do without your encouraging insight?! Hahaha!

WOW-chill pill needed. I have lost 150 lbs and count any Water based drink as Water. Think before you "speak".
