jbaker5d 34 Posted April 19, 2011 Hey All! I haven't posted in a long time. Hope all is well with my fellow band-sisters!! I'm like Jachut, my port is protruding like a tumor. My BMI is down to 22. Of all the things I considered with having the surgery I NEVER considered the port being exposed like this. Not only is it rather unsightly in my opinion but it's uncomfortable to sleep on. I am a person who sleeps on my side/stomach. I am really relieved to get on here and see others having the same issue and it's not just me. Still not sure what can be done about it. No matter what I'd rather have this problem that the one I had before though - 228lbs!! LOL. Congratulations on everyone's weight loss success! I am only 3 weeks out, and I can sort of feel my port, at least thats what I think it is. The area around it is larger than I expected it to be,and still quite sore. To address those of you who have lost alot of weight and now have an unsightly port site, my surgeon told me before surgery that after I lost the weight, if the port became too visible for my liking, he could exchange it out for a small one that isn't very easilty seen. Just a thought. Maybe ask your surgeon about it.
Bandaid12 0 Posted April 19, 2011 I can feel my port all the time. In fact, I know if I've eaten too much because the port will press on my skin - like it could pop out!!
mousek 4 Posted April 20, 2011 :Banane23: Is yours under your muscle or under your stomach? My doc said he sewed mine under the muscle. I can feel it but by no means does it stick out (I carry my weight in my midsection). The only thing I've ever done with a bikini is move it out of the way for the one piece :-) Congrats on your sucess. ha ha ha ha

Amie226 0 Posted April 23, 2011 I'm down 80 lbs and yes I can feel my port without effort. Not sure why, and my surgeon couldn't explain, But there are times where it pertrudes more then others. Not so much where others notice, but just enough to where I can tell.

JanB23 23 Posted April 24, 2011 I keep telling myself I must have a great surgeon who hid it well like u say. But after reading this forum and all the flipped ports and lost port posts it has me a little concerned that it is too easy to flip it and I worry about it. I chase two small toddlers around all day by myself and the youngest is just slightly over my 20lbs restriction. The 3 year old is over 30lbs and I wish I could say I haven't picked her up but I had to a couple of times. So that's why I'm so worried. My surgeon hid my port so well that after 8 months he still cant find it! LOL. I have to have all my fills under xray. I can just feel my port sometimes. The doctor actually can feel it but it is on a strange slant so is hard to get a the needle into it. Remember for all the ports that flip there are a lot more that don't. From what i have read here, some people can pin point what caused the port to flip and others cant. You need to be careful picking up any weight after any surgery but life goes on and you have to do what you have to do, but take care and avoid picking up your little one as much as you can.
