sarabride2006 0 Posted January 13, 2006 My coworker who's banded too says shredded wheat gets stuck. I tried Cereal in the mushies but it didn't make me full...
youknowit 11 Posted January 13, 2006 i don't mean to sound like a downer or a cynic, but if i could have "worked" this type of "diet" or "program" before the band, i wouldn't be where i am now, in my opinion. like Atkins, the grapefruit diet, whatever, it's virtually impossible to stick to one or two foods all day and expect to stay sane. i really hope you do well and wish you a ton of luck, but like i said, if this was doable for me before, i sure wouldn't be fat and banded now. (ruined a perfectly healthy cereal) kashi, Peanut Butter, honey, and bag o chocolate chips. mix together to make a big sticky mess and roll into balls, refridgerate and chow down. ahhhh that was good a kashi flashback! Jachut 487 Posted January 13, 2006 I've often wondered though, whether being banded, it's more realistic to use this type of diet to get a bit of weight off quickly, or when you've stalled. Because unlike an unbanded person who does this sort of thing, you're not likely to stack it all back on with interest are you? I mean, you cant live on 2 bowls of cereal a day forever but if it blasts away a few lbs why not?

bandayed 0 Posted January 13, 2006 Meagan -- any results with your experiment?
DeLarla 22 Posted January 13, 2006 I read about that too, and it's very simple. If you count the calories in the cereal and milk plus a small meal, you're caloric intake is pretty low. It's all about calories. Any diet works if you stick to it. It's the sticking to it that's killing me! Damn, now I want a bowl of cereal with berries! DeLarla 22 Posted January 13, 2006 Kashi is naughty. Is it supposed to be healthy, cause it's yummy! Like goodies to me Thanks, Shelli. Now I gotta think about goo balls all day! That's okay, I'll just have a tub of delicious Water instead. Ug.
MeganA 35 Posted January 13, 2006 Hey guys. I think it's great to read all the different perspectives. I'll weigh in on Monday, so for now I don't know if it is working or not. My head feels lighter- which is were I always feel weight loss first. Isn't that weird? And I've had people tell me I look smaller again. It's not the easiest thing to do...there are so many temptations- especially at lunch time. SO, today I am going to lunch with some girls from work and I'll eat a normal lunch, and then I'll just have cereal for dinner. I am finding that I crave Protein in the afternoon. So instead of a piece of fruit I am eating some lunch meat or some cheese and that is working ok. I do think I was less hungry when I was eating cottage cheese in the mornings so maybe I'll try another experiment with that in a week or two. I just want to get the scale moving again, for Pete's sake. Megan

I thought the same thing when I saw the subject of this thread. This seems to me like a fad diet. It's something you do for a short time to get some weight off quick. It's not something you can maintain. And I don't know about you guys, but that's how I got into this boat in the first place. Diet after diet, each time thinking "ok, THIS one is going to work." I don't see how this cereal thing is any different from the Slim Fast "two shakes a day and a sensible dinner" plan. I find it interesting that the magazine is so careful to point out that those people lost weight without surgery (read: "the easy way") but sees nothing wrong with praising people who went with some ill-advised, unbalanced diet instead. Just my $0.02.
