Stage 3 Pureed Foods...I need help!!!!

Recommended Posts

So I moved onto Stage 3 which means pureed foods. I made it through a week of liquids and then another week of full liquids but now I'm on pureed foods. How do I get through this? Does anyone have any suggestions. I realize that it's only a week but just the thought of putting food into a blender kinda grosses me out. Am I just being to dramatic? Is it that bad or not at all? HELP please!!!!!

Kind of depends on what the doctor has ordered. Mine had two weeks of mushies. The first was cottage cheese and ricotta, The second week I could add canned tuna and/or chicken. I would ask for clarification. As for week one I made an italian bake low/fat free cottage, ricotta, some parmesian, some smooth spagetti sause baked in the oven. In week two I could also add egg whites. I would make the eggwhites and and at the very end add fat free cottage cheese. So yummy.

For canned chicken I added low fat laughing cow cheese (each wedge is 35 calories). Also because it's cheese you can heat it up in the microwave.

This helped me a lot. I looked up Soups in food processors, drinks in food processors. Fruits are good to puree. Peel the skins off, and it becomes like a applesauce. Believe it or not Soups came through with a lot of different soups, and cream soups.

Look it up on the Internet.

Good Luck.

I never blended anything. I ate Beans and scrambled eggs. I also ate tuna and peas. My surgeon said I didn't have to blend any of those items. No problems at all.

I only recommented because you said pureed foods....... which is done with a blender, or processor.

Now if you can have heartier stuff., that's a different story.

Ask your Dr.'s office for a list or suggestions, on what they prefer, or have,.

ugh... i remember the pureed stage. that usually means baby food consistancy which usually means using a blender.

the thought of eating pureed chicken or beef or veggies made me want to gag so i chose to extend my full liquids a week and skipped the pureed foods all together.

i did 1 week Clear Liquids, 2 weeks full liquids, 1 week mushies... then had my first fill so had to go back to 1 day Clear Liquids, 1 day full liquids, 1 day mushy and FINALLY real food!

it was a rough month but something i highly encourage everyone to follow right after surgery.

cheat all you want before surgery but always follow the post-op instructions from your surgeon!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
