OMG...1st fill a couple hours ago!

Recommended Posts

Oh my goodness...4 weeks out...had my 1st fill today (3cc)...I went into my Doctor's office so nervous that they wouldn't find my port or that it had flipped (all the hooror stories I've read)...Nope, didn't even take 1 minute...didn't even hurt. I was relieved. But here's the downfall, I attempted to eat a piece of chicken...I managed to get 3 bites down...and BAM!!!!! I'm in pain.....stuck.....I've been a little stuck before but it passed within minutes....NOT THIS TIME!!!! Now I understand what ''slime" is.... I ended up bringing it up...the slime, the chicken....and I'm still uncomfortable. Burping, everything.... I'm gonna do puree for a day or two...this was too much for me. Tell me it gets better. My poor kids ending up throwing up too. I guess I set off a chain reaction....we're laughing right now..but 30 minutes ago..no one was smiling! Ugh...the agony.....I still feel like a block of air is in my chest. ANY REMEDIES!!!!! HELP...feels like I can puke again...but what's left inside......????? Ugh!!!

My doctors office requires nothing but liquids the day of the fill (broth, etc.), then the next day is full liquids, the day after that is mushies, and then on the 4th day you can resume a regular diet. Almost like post-op diet plans but in days rather than weeks.

Yep ! 3 days on liquids, then work towards the mushes. If still tight, go back to shakes, liquids.

Here is what they tell us From HENRY FOR BARIATRIC CENTER,,

If you get food stuck, this is a recipe for DRANO for LAP BAND.

Take a shot glass, add some ADOLPH'S meat TENDERISER, then Water. Mix well , and swallow

and leave it there, it will eat through the clog.......

Check that with your Dr., if he ever heard of this, We all

are told about it at H.F......

Anyone else here of this?

Reading this got me thinking, I am an LVT who works at an emergency/specialty hospital. When we have patients with feeding tubes and occasionally the owner brings them back because they get clogged due to them not flushing them well, we can use regular coca cola to unclog them. I wonder of that would work if you were stuck, having a drink of coke. Personally I hate regular coke and have never been stuck so I would not try it, but am curious if it would work

LOL  I don't mean to laugh at your first fill, but the part about you kids throwing up had me in stitches, even though my incisions are still tender! I was banded 3/7. Wow...is this what I have to look forward to when I get a fill? I hope not. Would it be because you didn't chew your chicken to "baby fine" consistency or what? I'd like to know so that I can avoid your situation when I get to that point (eating solid foods). Give me some input, please! I hope you do better, too!

I was banded at Henry Ford Hospital in Michigan. CENTER OF EXCELLENCE, and Chief Surgeon.

We were taught that we had new plumbing in there, that's why we burp! It keeps the opening from the stomach to the pouch open. That's a very good thing.

On occasion you will get stuck! so we will give you a recipe for the Lap Banders DRANO for being stuck....

Take a shot glass or a little bigger, add ADOLPH'S meat TENDERISER in the glass, and mix with some Water.

Swallow it, and leave it sit there. It will eat the clog.

If you are stuck for 1/2 hr or longer, go to a Hospital, and they can get it out.

That's the only info. I have ever had on this. I have never tried to do this, I drank Water, and puked it up. JUST REMEMBER TO CHEW !!!!!, and you really won't have this problem.

As far as coke unplugging the clog,,, I believe it.... It's also used to eat the rust of of cars when repair is needed.

Here is a example: take a piece of beef, and put a thumb print into the meat so it's like a hole or pocket. Now fill the pocket with coke. Do this before you go to bed, and take a look at it in the morning. I did round steak, and it ate a whole clean through it. So all you banders, don't drink COKE or DIET COKE. Not good for that empty stomach at all.

After a fill my doc puts me on liquids and Protein shakes for the entire remainder of the day. The following day I'm upgraded to mushy/soft foods and the next back on regular.

This works perfectly.

I just had my first "stuck" ever an hour ago - i thought i was gonna die! haaha! Wasn't funny THEN though and just like that (about 15 mins later) it just STOPPED but I went through all the hell that these posts speak of - ughhh

--- I'm doing a Protein shake now. I don't know if I didn't chew thoroughly or if the bite was too big - but either way - it happened and now I feel like I won't soon forget that feeling.

Take your time when you eat, and chew, chew, chew...

Sometimes I feel like a cow chewing it to mush,,,, but that's what works.

O yeagh small pieces when you cut it up.

Shirley.

I chewed well...(so I thought)....but I even have a little trouble getting chopped/ground tuna or chicken down. I just should've been informed of the liquids/mushies ect.....rule. I'm doing well...still not much restriction....haven't really pushed the envelope and tested myself since. Like I said, it was a learning lesson. So I try to remember to chew...chew...chew....It's just so hard to get used to not drinking with my meals.

Yeah, my poor kids were heaving and throwing up too. I felt so bad. We laughed afterwards. But now if I feel like my meal is giving me any discomfort...I stop eating immediately. I'll be glad when I have more restriction....because I feel like I could just keep eating...not sure because I'm really trying to stick within my "portions"...my biggest issue is "head" hunger...(boredom)...I work the nightshift....so I'm home a lot by myself (like now) ...I should be asleep...trying to dose off....some construction outside so the noise level is up....I'd love to go pig out....get full...and fall asleep....but I'm not hungry...(ate nonfat yogurt w/1/3 cup of All Bran cereal) I am full....just bored...so willpower has to take over. Never knew how much food was part of life. SMH. Oh well, I hope you're coming along ....be smarter than I was.....stick to liquids when you get your fill. I will....I get my next fill on the 6th of April....I'll be prepared. I'm sure my kids won't let me forget....NO CHICKEN MOMMY!!!!!!

My Nut told me to do this for stuck episodes. She said to buy the red cap as it has no MSG. It is brutal salty, but works. I keep a bottle in my purse and kitechen..just in case!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
