Back Working Out-Need Advice to Prevent Full Body Soreness

Recommended Posts

So, I'm back in the gym doing my routine work outs since I've graduated from school and currently looking for a full-time job. However, I am trying to figure out..what will prevent this soreness in my body. Yesterday, I went to a work out session offered through my church..it was about 1.5 hours of work outs...Well, I'm going to the gym T, W, Th, and Friday...not sure exactlyl if I'm damaging anything..or if I'm simply warming up those unused muscles that haven't been FULLY and completely worked out in about 6-8 months. Yes, I said 6-8 months. Sad, but honesty is the key to a successful you. Well, I haven't gained weight. but, I'm loosing slowly...so please tell me what do I need to do to prevent body soreness before and after my 30minutes to 1 hour workouts I anticipate on doing per day..(or at least 5 weekdays)

The soreness will stop happening as you get back into it.

I believe in active recovery. I think its way better the day after a tough workout to go for a gentle half hour run to get some blood through the stiff muscles than to sit on the couch "recovering". Just keep moving.

There is a simple solution, believe it or not. Something I learned that surprised me- if you stretch well AFTER you work out, it almost completely eliminates the soreness.

Your body is a bit traumatized. Even though I swim daily; if I do the elliptical I feel it in legs later. It's a different muscle set that's not as used to being used. As time goes on it will get better. You may want to start of slower; 1.5 hours is a lot for someone who has not been working out.

Once you continue with the workouts it will get better. I've been going to the gym and doing cardio for years, but when I added in the weight machines I was so site, it has gotten a lot better. Also the first time I went kickboxing I was so sore, now that I've done it a few more times it is much better. Just have to push through it

Lol, I consider it a successful workout when I can not sit on the toilet unaided 2 days later...

Yeah where you just have fall down on the toilet. Everytime I start running the stairs that happens to me. Lol.

If you are stretching good after your work out the soreness should be minimal. Always stretch very well even if you have to do it a couple of times.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
