The hardest thing that I have given up is pasta! I love pasta! Pasta everything...but, my band doesn't like it! It has been a blessing in disguise for me though. My body hates sugar/carbs and Pasta is full of both. Sooooo, while I miss it, I am much better off without it! ;)

I'm on the soft solid stage 2.5 post-op and right now all I want is a BK Original chicken Sandwich. It's such a silly thing to crave, but it's constantly on my mind. Thank goodness I really don't crave sweets; I'm all about salt. My binge food was triscuits with sliced cheddar. Weird, huh? I don't crave fries or burgers.. just that stupid chicken sandwich.

Diet coke is by far the hardest thing I have had to do with out. I miss it more than I can express. Its a bit unsettling how much! LOL

Pasta, but I don't exactly miss it, and with the amount of exercising I'm doing, it won't hurt to have it every once in awhile. I could also say pizza, but I just make my own pizza that is healthier. I pretty much eat what I did before, just healthier portions/types. (ie. brown rice over white rice and not a bowl full of it)

I don't know if there's anything that's been hard to give up. I do however have cravings for the breadsticks from pizza hut both the garlic ones and the cinnamon.

I havent really had hard time giving anything up. I started slowly changing my eating habits about a year ago. And by six months ago I was eating like a dietians dream, but I was still heavy enough to need the help. My problem is bad food. Its eating too much. I went from eating a whole lb of steak to eat a whole lb of shrimp. Way better for you, but not very good for loosing weight. I lost a good amount of weight before surgery other wise Im not sure my surgeon would have let me even have the lapband. Im still just a little over a week ago from surgery so Im sure I will want something sooner or later that isnt good for me. Thats why I got the lapband to begin with. I needed to restriction to keep me on the right path.

WOW... that's a loaded question. pizza, Pasta, Hambugers and home made baked goods! But oddly, just now when I thought about it, I really don't miss any of it. I have fleeting moments but they pass. I will honestly say I have found healthier versions of most of these things or substitutes. (well, not sure it substitues is the right termanology) The other day tho... I really wanted a good pizza, and those skinny little cardboard substitutions just don't cut it!

I have gone without a double cheeseburger from mc donalads for a little over a year now. I told myself i would make it a year and now I have made up my mind that I will go the rest of my life without one. Miss it maybe a little but not worth it at all.

I don't really miss soda but I did have an odd experience the other day. I was at Walmart late like 10:OO. So it was pretty quiet. Someone the next register over opened the soda refrig. The sound of the door opening and the pulling of the rubber gasket gave me the worse Diet Coke craving. Sooo weird. Goes to show that we really do have sounds that trigger us to eat and drink!

I miss never being able to have a sandwich... Subway, Peanut Butter and jelly, a club. I just miss them but I know it is totally worth it. That's not to say that sometimes I don't feel sorry for myself, which is just silly.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
