Banding on March 24th!!! Yay!!!

Recommended Posts

I am scheduled for banding on March 24th. I will start my pre-op diet this Friday.

I am a bit nervous. More so for the pre-op diet.

I am doing this for my children. I have had high cholesterol since I was 20, I am now 37. I want

to be here for my children for many years to come.

I never thought I would have a date set. I have been wanting this for two years and finally have everything

approved and lined up.

Soooooo ready. Just need to make a menu for the next two weeks.

I can have a shake for Breakfast and a morning snack. Small light lunch and supper.

Adkins diet.

What kind of diet do they have you on?

I begin my pre-op diet tomorrow. I am on a 2 week liquid only diet. They have me on 4 Protein shakes a day. The shakes are called "Chike" and they are 190 calories each. So my shakes, lots of Water, and some sugar free Jello. I'm allowed chicken and beef broth as well as sugar free ice popsbut I am going to try my hardest to stay away from that. What about you?

I will. I started it today. Still trying to figure out what I can have. Kids are not giving enough time to read everything. I have my appt on Monday for the preop visit. Hoping to find more out then.

So far I have done 3 shakes, peanuts and ordered a dry...grilled chicken sandwich from burger king and tossed the bun. Had two cokes today.

Starting officially tomorrow.

When my tummy started to growl between my first and second shake...I drank the second and took all my Vitamins and drank Water.

Took care of it.

If you have any tips on how to tolerate the pre-op diet, let us know!! I know that you can't wait until the 24th!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
