Memorial Day Challenge

Recommended Posts

Ok I've been banded for going on 5 years and have fallen off the bandwagon. But I'm back and focused and down 12 lbs in 1 week. I am going to make my goal to lose another 15 lbs by Memorial Day. :D

lakegirl, it's just one week! I bet next week will be different! I had my 0 last week, and I was mostly to blame. Actually it was the back-to-back baby shower, bridal shower and birthday party that I had to attend, and all the amazing, tempting food that was there! But i lost about 2 lbs this past week, and am trying to move on. You will too!

Missy, 12 lbs??? How did you do that?????? That is great!

This is a great idea. I am definitely in on this. I have been banded since March 1, 2011, so far its been going well. This is excellent motivation for us all.

It's been a rough couple of weeks for me. My weight has been all over the place so I take a lot of pleasure in the fact that as of today I'm only up officially .2. Still gotta lose that weight; I have a trip planned for this summer and my goal weight at the end of this challenge is the max weight I can be to do the shore excursion I want...extra motivation!! I know I can do it...

all i am doing is following what the surgeon and nutritionist, asked me to do is ...to eat 3, 4oz meals a day..so i try to eat turkey, chicken and deer meat and EAS brand Protein powder... then i eat very little veggies carrot and celery sticks...and for fruit oranges, peaches, and also almonds but they told me to stay from them, because the protein doesn't out way the fat even though it's healthy fat.... so i do stay under 1000 calories and it works for me!!! and also i am a log distance over the road truck driver!!! and still no fills....goodluck to everyone.....have a safe and happy Easter!

well new friends, i'm new to these forums but i was banded in 07 in Tijuana by Dr. Ortiz (fabulous program and surgeon)

i am notoriously compliant (and a RN to boot) BUT i've not only reached my goal but surpassed it....the secret is a good fill believe me

however, now i can't seem to stop losing and i need my restriction lessened. since i have a foreign band the docs in st louis are less than helpful.

anyone know of a fill place in missouri/chicago? i had dr. vitello in chicago who was phenomenal, great technique and results but he isn't doing fills anymore or at least right now

this has been going on for about 6 months so want to get in somewhere soon

any suggestions ---completely appreciated

keep your chin up everyone, its a process to get the restriction just right

i met a gal who took different foods with her to the fill, after the fill she'd take a bite or two of each and see how it felt, i think that was smart

good luck all!

roxanne

* please note my typo*

i am notoriously COMPLIANT with the origran

my band really doesn't allow anything else

thanks and sorry for the misinformation..need reading glasses

If you don't mind going to Carle in Champaign my Dr is Uretz Oliphant and he is a dear. He also has an associate helping him now. I think they will do fills for folks they didn't band. Wouldn't hurt to call, anyway. (217) 383-3240

I've not lost much weight since the surgery.. healing is my excuse... but I'm back to counting calories, so I updated the spreadsheet hoping it will keep me on track! Good luck all!

Down 2lbs. I waited till today to weigh. Drove 6 hours home on Sunday and that always makes me retain Water. Not to mention Easter food. Plan on doing 5 Zumba classes in the next 5 day. So I hope next week will bring results. Have a wonderful week every one....

Ok... I'm back! rolleyes.gif I was totally STUCK at the same weight for almost a month. I got my first fill yesterday, so now I should be losing again. I was getting very frustrated and I was embarrassed to post ZERO on the spreadsheet. I'll be sure to weigh in tomorrow. I'm not sure I'll make my goal.... but if I can get half way there, I'll be really happy!!!

I've been stagnant too; it's been so frustrating! I thought 20lbs would be a piece of cake...now seeing as I've only lost 7 (and that was HARD) and we only have 4 weeks left...I don't know. I'll gonna be working out even more but trying to hold off on another fill (dr thought my last one should be good until July and she actually offered to take out some Fluid before my trip; HA!). Hang in there; we're all in this together!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
