How much Fiber are you getting? Aside from benefiber. Milk of magnesia works usually. I aim for 25g+ of fiber a day and it's been helping. But, fact is we are eating less, so there will be a decrease in 'going.'

I prob am not getting enough fiber. I think I need to meet with my nutrition guy again. I can't seem to get my Protein intake up enough either. I just get full fast and then don't get it all in.

I take 2 benefibers in the morning and 2 in the evening. I'm now nice and regular. It took me a couple weeks to get a good balance.

Hi,

Increase your Water intake as much as possible. I know you probably don't feel like it but it made ALL the difference for me - even after just one day of a major increase.

When I called my surgeon about this issue, her first recommendation was to increase my Water intake. Then she said if that didn't work that I could take a stool softener but even if I did that then I had to increase my water intake anyway.

Good luck.

Fiber doesn't seem to do much for me. I usually end up taking a gentle laxative once a week before bed. Otherwise it's uncomfortable, and a big process to go LOL

I put benefiber in my morning yoghurt. I also take 2 fiber gummies in the morning and usually 2 more at night. I also eat a lot of carrots. I tend to be a very regular person. There are times though that I get less regular and I take a gentle laxative. The instructions say to take up to 2, I usually take one and that helps the next day.

Also are you exercising? That can get things moving often immediatly following a good cardio work out. I read in an article that if you do a strenuous cardio workout your body thinks its in Flight mode. Animals in flight mode vacate so they weigh less and can run faster.

Also a RN here. I take colace, use benefiber (though not regularly). Eat high fiber high Protein Cereal daily (which my surgeon is against) and I have a lactose intolerance but now have milk with my cereal and a yogurt in the evening, which my surgeon is also against. I don't drink enough Water either, have to work on that.

My dr had recommended Miralax to me when I originally went las year and told her I was chronically constipated. So I take that 5 days a week and I take fiber gummies. I also usually eat a fiber One Bar a day. Helps me greatly. I usually buy the generic miralax as it is obviously cheaper.

My Dr recommended Miralex also. I take it when I need it, not on a regular basis. It works well usually in 24-36 hours

Ok thanks. Took the milk of magnesia and it kicked in at a bad time. I was in the drive line to get my kids from school! Didnt think uveitis make it home!

I have had to take correctol a few times...I take the on Fri/Sat night when I know I will be home the next AM. I have also had it kick in at the wrong time and it is NO fun...

I am also having a hard time staying regular. I am adding benifiber to most of my food and drinking tons of Water but nothing seems to work. I go for my first fill on Wed and plan to ask the dr.

Good luck to you...being bunched up is no fun!!!

Prune juice. A quarter cup should help.

I also take fiber gummies every day.

I've been using the Luci Le Beau Super Dieter's Tea. You can pick it up at Wal Mart by the Vitamins, or Smith's. I've found it in most stores. I'm not big into spending money on "diet" products. But I find this tea helps me be regular. If not due to the Senna, just due to adequate Fluid intake... which is the most important issue. It's also not harsh on the stomach like medications. A nice cup in the evening and one in the morning and all's well down there. I like it better than fiber supplements, because if you don't drink enough Water with fiber supplements you can get pretty plugged up.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
