Hello all, my name is Consuela, but everyone calls me Pinky. I'm 23 from the Orange County area of Southern California. I'm new to lapbandtalk, so I figured I'd start here. I've been working out consistantly, eating right and overall taking a more active approach to my health. Even with all of that, I still can't seem to lose the weight. I'm really terrified about my health, my mother has high blood pressure and diabetes and I'm prone to get it myself. Also, Its been harder and harder to keep up with exercising because my back always hurts so much. So I've been thinking about getting the lap band. I hopefully want to get it by this summer when I'm out on vacation from college. I've been researching reviews on different doctors and would love any advice anyone has to give me. I only have about $6000 in cash but my mom is working on getting an insurance policy that will cover this procedure for me. If she can't, I've been looking at some doctors in Mexicali, Mexico that do the procedure. She's terrified about me going to Mexico, and refuses to go with me if I do decide to get it done there. Can anyone tell me if getting the procedure done in Mexicali safe? Do I have to worry about getting shot or running for my life from gangsters or something? Does anyone know of any great doctors in the states, that have great prices? If so, how much? My credit is bad and I don't have a job at the moment, so I probably wouldn't qualify for financing. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

~Pinky~

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
