I think it can vary depending on what you eat for the day. For instance a 3.5 ounce chicken breast has 30 grams of Protein so having one of those during the day helps make your daily total easy to achieve. If I am a little low for the day I will make my evening snack a Protein Bar, something with a nice "treat" type taste but useful to my food totals.

I take a liquid protien supplement called "Pro-Stat" has 15 gm per dose.

Worst tasting stuff I've ever had, need to hold my breath and take a swallow of orange juice as a chaser. But you do get used to it.

I get about 40g of Protein a day. My nutritionist said that's fine for me because I am eating high quality protein (fish). Don't beat yourself up if you don't make your quota each day. Just do your best. I wouldn't stuff it in if you aren't hungry. I also wouldn't drink my protein personally but you should follow your doctors orders whatever they may be.

I have been banded for 3 months and still have a Protein Shake almost every day for Breakfast. In addition, I have 3-4 oz Protein at lunch and dinner. If I do need a snack, it is always something with Protein - string cheese, Greek yogurt, etc. By doing this I have no problem getting in my daily protein.

If you have trouble eating enough protein I would definitely recommend continuing the shakes.

The Miracle answer is Muscle Milk. It gives between 25-35 G of Protein per 8oz shake. Buy it on ebay, these dealers have a wide variety of flavors.

I have a 2.48 jug of PINA COLADA that I got buy mistake, it's unopend, and $20.00 includes the shipping. Thats a good price. Don't need milk, only Water.< /p>

5 yrs. banded, and still using this stuff.

Always eat your Protein first. I am a high-protein diet pusher, but I guess for some people low protein works. I aim for 125g protein a day, no less than 120g. Try to eat chicken, fish, and turkey. Things like nuts, cottage cheese, ricotta cheese, and others all have protein in them as well. I'd shoot for a minimum of 60g each day; so 20 each meal.

I was banded over 4 months ago, and I still have a Protein Shake for Breakfast (most days) just to make sure I'm getting enough Protein everyday.

I like the carnation instant breakfast powder (sugar free kind) It doesnt have a TON of Protein like the powders but it has enough to get me to my goal. its really good and it makes the milk taste like chocolate milk! I love it :)

I am about 20 months post-op and still use Protein powder. I sometimes make smoothies at home on days when I know I'm not getting in much protein with the foods I eat. As a treat I will get a smoothie at starbucks and have them add extra protein for .50 cents more bringing the protein in it up to 30g.

Are you on solids yet?

For me, eggs for breakfast, chicken salad for lunch, and turkey meatballs for dinner. That's about 70g of Protein for my day with everything I eat. A lot of things have Protein that you wouldn't think... cheese has protein, oatmeal has protein.. here and there it adds up. Just make sure, the main portion of your meal is a solid protein, chicken, fish, meat, eggs, soy.. whatever.

I gave up Protein shakes the second I could, they are so nasty! haha.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
