Ninababy 5 Posted March 6, 2011 I am flying to Seattle ( six hours) and wonder about how that effects the band. Should I have a small unfill? What is your experience? Thanks
laura71 12 Posted March 6, 2011 I am flying to Seattle ( six hours) and wonder about how that effects the band. Should I have a small unfill? What is your experience? Thanks I've flown several times since my band surgery and have experienced no ill effects. You may want to take some rub on anti-nausea meds with you just in case. (your band dr should be able to call you in a script for this to any pharmacy that compounds medication) Have a great trip.
dawnboatwright 0 Posted March 6, 2011 I am flying to Seattle ( six hours) and wonder about how that effects the band. Should I have a small unfill? What is your experience? Thanks [/quo I have flown 2 weeks after having the surgery (before a fill) and I did not experience any problems. If you are unsure speak with the doctor and he/she can answer any questions or concerns you might have. Hope you have fun!
karewpah 173 Posted March 6, 2011 I fly all the time. If your NAND tightens up A bit, just sit back and enjoy the flight
Paulax 8 Posted March 7, 2011 I have heard that the band will not be affected in flight. I have however, always felt tighter during a trip or holiday. It may be not so much to do with altitude or the flight, but stress or excitement???
HeatherinCA 10 Posted March 7, 2011 I am flying to Seattle ( six hours) and wonder about how that effects the band. Should I have a small unfill? What is your experience? Thanks I'm going to Seattle this weekend!! Na, I doubt it'll do anything.. I can't imagine why it would make a difference... Personally I'd rather a tad bit of discomfort than the expense and time to get a fill and unfill
L12 13 Posted March 7, 2011 I've never had a problem with flying, but my band does sometimes tighten up when I'm stressed or dehydrated, both of which can happen when I'm really busy! If yours happens to tighten up before, during, or after the flight, maybe try some hot tea or coffee; warm liquids can help loosen things up a bit.
