7 months out...57lbs down..

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone! its been a while since Iv posted on been on here...but wanted to come back since Iv had something on my mind for a while. I just celebrated my 7month bandiversary and have lost 57lbs...its been such an up and down roller coaster ride since having surgery but Im pretty happy with my results so far..Iv been working out since month 2, going to the gym 3-4x per week and finally am almost at my sweet spot after the 5th fill. I have 9cc's in a 14cc band. ...my body is holding up pretty good with the weight loss..I began at 302lbs and now am down to 245...but my stomach is "saggy" and I have this hanging lower stomach..not too bad or large but annoying..my stomach is still pretty overall jiggly and I know that Im not goin to have washboard abs but my question to bandsters who have lost maybe 70-100lbs if your stomach every got "tighter" or that hanging lower part of your stomach shrank to where it wasnt hanging anymore?? without surgery?? I really hope I dont have to consider a Tummy Tuck or anything but I just want to know if anyone who worked out alot and lost alot of weight had their stomach "fix itself"..hope that makes sense...but its really the part of the body that im concerned about. Thanks!!

I doubt it'll fix itself. Once the skin is stretched it's not going to go back perfectly or become "flat" no matter how much exercise you do. Try ab exercises and overall continue to lose weight, but I doubt your skin is gonna go back. I started at 245lbs, at 19, and mine hasn't budged so I'm all saved up for a Tummy Tuck. Good luck and congrats on your loss! :)

Hi,

I have issues with the skin on my abdomen, the pannus, and will most likely need a panniculectomy. I don't really want a Tummy Tuck, but will want this hanging icky skin removed. I have issues with a rash, so my insurance should cover it.

At my age, 45, I have no illusion of the skin going back to normal. B)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
