Please keep my little girl in your prayers...

Recommended Posts

There has been a ton of stress in my life lately and I need to get it off my chest. I have a precious daughter that is 4 1/2. We started seeing her struggle with her emotions about 10 months ago and spoke with her doctor about it. The doc suggested that we give it some time and let her get through this little "phase" that she was going through. As time passed her behavior and moods got worse and worse. 2 weeks ago I took her to a family counseling center to meet with a counselor to try and help her manage her anger, saddness and frustration. She is a very bright little girl that loves school and has made tons of friends in preschool this year. We blamed the anger on her being bored in school and not being challenged enough. The couneslor said it could be PANDAS syndrome, a disorder that is caused from strep infection and can easily be treated and there are ways to learn to live a normal life with this disorder. We were then refered to a psychatrist (sp?) he sent my little one for a bunch of lab work and she has to have a sleep study and an EEG in the next few weeks. He has diagnosed her with Panic attacks/anxiety disorder, Obsessive compulsive disorder and possibly Bi-Polar disorder. I am affraid that I am losing the sweet lovable little girl that I am totally in love with. She is angry, depressed and we are all sleep deprived as she is only sleeping about 4 hours a day right now. All of her symptoms point to Bi-Polar disorder. She was put on zoloft last weeks and we are starting to see some change in the panic, and anxiety. Her moods are scary sometimes, she will be playing and then all of a sudden she wants to be left alone and will sit in her room and cry. She told the doctor that she is sad most of the time and that she hears voices of people that she can't see. I am a full time stay at home mom and have been with her everyday and this is really hard for me to watch. Please say a prayer, send her healing vibes, white light whatever you believe in. I am affraid that is something doesn't get better soon she will never be herself again. The doctor said that if this goes untreated there is a chance she will never recover. We are doing everything we can, but whatever energy/prayers you can spare would be appreciated. We see the doctor tuesday for the lab work results I will keep you all updated. I am sooo glad I have my LBT family to come too, I really love you guys. ~Mandy

Gee Mandy, that's tough, especially since she's so young. I wish you the best. Next time my gson's running me all over the house, I'll be glad he's just being a stinker instead of angry. Thanks for the reality check.

I will send her prayers. Bless her little heart. I teach students with emotional difficulties and have heard stories such as yours. Sometimes kids have had high fever and then they start having the problems you speak of. Sometimes there is just no explanation. As soon as possible, start talking to organizations in your area about getting an advocate (health or educational) for your daughter. As a special ed teacher, I know that once teachers see that there is an advocate involved they really go out of their way to make sure the child gets services needed. It may be a little early for this but things take time and it would be better to have an advocate too soon than too late.

Feel free to PM me if you'd like.

Darla

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
