Dawnzy 1 Posted March 7, 2011 I also get a pain around my upper left shoulder in the front when I eat to much. I haven't gotten that stuck feeling as of yet and hope I don't push it. I'm sure it will happen some day.

Swan56 6 Posted March 7, 2011 When I get too full I notice I will hiccup or burp. I have learned to stop eating when I don't feel hungry anymore - not when I feel full. I noticed as a fat person, I didn't really know what full felt like. I liked what I ate so I ate it until I thought I was full and sometimes ended up too full. If you stop when you're no longer hungry, you don't have to worry about those embarassing long weird band burps or an uncomfortable feeling. I actually have a new outlook on food. While, at times, I still crave some of the "bad" food - I often don't really want them. They normally don't get along well with my band and getting stuck is NOT WORTH IT! If you notice you're craving something bad - go eat something good and normally you will forget your "craving." I have a new found friendship with popsicles and pudding when I'm craving sweets. They do so much less damage. I don't drink sodas anymore and I haven't had a beer in months. I will settle for a glass of wine every now and then. It's nice to know that the choices I'm making will help me reach my goal - being thinner really makes me happy! Trying on smaller clothes and realizing they fit is a phenomenal feeling! Learn your body and learn to use your band to your benefit. You'll get the hang of it
Saraboo 21 Posted March 7, 2011 If I eat too much, I get a feeling like a lump in my throat. It's not comfortable at all. If it's something my band doesn't like, I'll get pain in my chest; or, if it's really bad, my mouth starts filling with saliva, and i know to head for the bathroom because I know taht whatever I ate is not going to stay down. YOu do not want to get to that. Bad for your band, and you.

Sometimes it goes away quickly, which just means that I didn't chew will enough, but if I eat too much, my lower stomach isn't used to all the food so fast, so I'll cramp up and get a lump in my throat. It's tough learning how your body reacts now. It's for the better.
jayeljay613 1 Posted March 7, 2011 I asked my nurse why I have port pain sometimes after eating and she said it is common for some people to get port pain when they over eat. It is not something that happens to a lot of people but it can happen. It has something to do with where the port is placed, honestly I didn't understand the rest! I have had a couple of stuck or near stuck episodes the last two weeks (since my third fill) and I get awful chest pain and the worst time I got horrific pain in between my shoulder blades. Needless to say, I am slowing down eating a lot since then!!! Best of luck to you!

I haven't really burped since surgery. Three months ago.
minimeme 1 Posted March 7, 2011 Early on, I too felt the port pain when I over ate. For the person who posted they didnt see how, it is because overeating puts pressure on the band and forces Fluid out of the band to the port area. I personally have problems with bread and dont eat it. But eating it and then drinking will sure cause it to swell in your pouch.
holly82 1 Posted March 8, 2011 Weird... But when I eat to much I have pain in my port area too. Also, I can feel my port under my skin if I eat too much but can't feel it otherwise. I know that's insane but it's what happens.
