cinched up too tight?

Recommended Posts

Just had my 1st fill on tues. Had .5cc put in, I started with 5 cc in a 10 cc band. (Yes, I know that seems like a lot) So that puts me at 5.5cc. I had it done under flouro, so everything is a ok. Here's my question....Is it normal to feel the band? Am I just swollen? liquids are going down, but I have to drink really, really REALLY slow. Now I am wondering it I am too tight? Any insight would be helpful.

Thanks Bunches!!!

Give it a couple days for the swelling to subside b/c it will go down. Everyone is different with re: amount of Fluid in band. I actually have almost 7 cc in my 10 cc band and that is after having .5 cc recently removed so it just depends. The test will come when you resume a normal diet of Protein, veggies, solid food diet. Make sure to take it slowly and chew really well. Best of luck to you :)

I agree the swelling should go down and make things a little easier. You don't actually feel the band, your stomach itself has no nerves so it can't feel anything. What you are feeling is probably more in your esophagus. Eating and drinking slowly is now going to the your way of life. But once the swelling goes down it will be a little more comfortable as long as you follow the eating rules.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
