Regret - not doing it sooner.

Do I cheat... nope, I'm not on a diet. Sometimes I make bad choices but I can eat anything I "choose" to eat, and sometimes I do!

yes I have regrets..when I decided to get the band I thought that it would stop me from eating too much because I believed that I simply would not be able to do it...however lately I have found out that I can eat a lot! before I didn't eat things like chocolate, ice cream Cookies..but after the surgery i started eating them and I don't even know why..i just was so tired of being on a diet all the time and i thought that the band would allow me to eat those things again within limitations...but I let myself get out of hand and I failed myself and the band..but I hope to get my act together and make the band work for me, i go for my first fill next week and hopefully i will have a new start. by the way i've only lost about 20 lbs since Sept 13, 2010. see what I mean.

Any regrets ? Anyone cheat?

I agree with TKW, you're not on a diet, the band is a whole new lifestyle. I doubt anyone could go the rest of their life without eating their favorite foods once in awhile. My weaknesses were things like corn chips and Pasta. Now that I am banded I rarely crave them, but when I do, I have 2 or 3 chips or a couple bites of pasta. The difference post band is that I am satisfied from a very small amount. I think we beat ourselves up enough as it is, so instead of thinking of it as cheating, think of it as a reward :D

Thank you for the reply. I like the comment on reward. I am having a lil reservations but know this is the way for me.

I am not clear on the fill which I think controls how tight or lose the band is. I heard one person saying the band gets tighter at night time. i wish you great success on your journey.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
