I lost 20 pounds after 3 weeks of surgery and saw surgeon on foruth week and he did not want to add any saline toband. I only had one ounce in becuase of having problems with swallowing medication. He eventually added one ounce which meant I had two ounces in. Ever since strugling and have gained one pound becuase I am always hungry. Trying to get back in to get a band adjustment. I am also having pain on my left side since surgey anyone experienced this.

I hope by ounce you mean cc. In regards to the medication you take, can you get it in liquid form, or can it be broken up into smaller pieces? I know some meds are pretty good size, I have to make some adjustments to mine or I would have never gotten them down. Where on the left side are you have pain and how long have you been banded?

As for your next appointment for an adjustment, hang tough - you can do it!

Is your port on the left? It takes awhile for that to heal. Once you start healing internally and the swelling goes down; this will be a will power diet. I did not see any restriction for 5 months from fills and apprear to have restriction now at 6 months. Did your doctor give you a food plan? Are you on mushies or solids at this point? I bought a digital food scale and started weighing my 3 oz of Protein per meal. It's amazing how little that really is; so it's hard to eyeball. While I use regular sized silverware I do use a lunch/sandwich plate becuase it makes my servings sizes look larger.

Have you started exercising yet? If not find something that you are willing to do 5 days a week. I highly recommend swimming or Water aerobics it's easier for larger people to do.

Good luck!

If you are hungry, then you should be due for another one. They can only do it like once a month though, because the fills take a few weeks to take effect.

Just keep an eye on your calories, if you are gaining, you are eating too much.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
