I am still getting used to navigating this site~so far I love that everyone on here is so positive, although this my first post; I have read a few forums and am really encouraged by reading your experiences.

I am meeting with the surgeon tomorrow~and if all goes well should have an operation date within the next few weeks! Really excited and a little nervous; although I know this is the right thing for me to do.

I am looking forward to shraring my experiences with you and hearing all of your success stories and learning from each other!

I'm also new to the website and trying to figure out things. I'm waiting for Insurance approval, but when I first starting reading posts I got a little scared but after doing a lot of research and reading more posts the are way more good one's than bad ones. It's seems like there is good support here. I know my doctor uses the REALIZE band I didn't know there was different ones???? I learn something new every time I'm on the site. smile.gif I hope we all have great success with the Band. tongue.gif

Welcome to the group. I am scheduled for surgery on March 31st. I too am abit nervous but excited at the same time. We have a support group at my doctors office, so be sure to check and see if your office does something like that also.

Until yesterday I had only found positive on the site. I think that person has had a horrible experience but does not represent the vast majority of people here. I am staying positive and will do the best that I can. Wishing the same for you as you start your new life.

Welcome to the group. Tha negattive message that I think most of us has read doesn't seem to represent most of the people here. Did you know that there is a "group" for each month of banding on this site?? You can hopefully even find someone in your area or who was banded on the same day for support. If you scroll down the main forum page you can find each month, even age groups. If you go under members you can put in your zip code and find people in your area that are also on the site for additional support. Wishing you the best. Starting my new life March 31st and trying to stay as positive as possible.

I joined this site in Jan and am currently going through the process to be banded and have learned and not everyones' experience is the same. Stay strong and focused. The more you use this site the easier it will become to navigate it. GOod luck. ;)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
