shanrich96 0 Posted March 2, 2011 Sorry for all the questions, but there are so many unknowns being new to this. I am 5 days post-op and doing well. I had my dinner last night around 6:30 (a mocha Protein Shake about 4 oz) a little later I had about 2 oz of sugar freepudding. Everything seemed to go down fine. I went to bed around 10. At some point in the night I woke up and felt like I had something in my throat. I swallowed it and realized I had mild heartburn (not nearly as bad as it used to be). I think I had some food reflux, but it worries me that it was when I was asleep. Does that happen? and what can I do to prevent it?
reverie 49 Posted March 2, 2011 Try not to eat 3 hours before bed; might help. If it happens again maybe try sleeping propped up for a bit using a few pillows. It's never happened to me but as long as it wasn't acid reflux I wouldn't worry too much.
forabetterlife 3 Posted March 2, 2011 I went through the same thing but I had never had heart burn before so I got really worried and found out it was Acid Reflux. I called my doctor and they suggested not eating anything 1-2 hours before bed so I tried that and it didnt work but I knew it was reflux because if I took a drink of Water it would go away so for 3 weeks I kept a cup of water beside my bed so if it happen I could have access to a drink because it hurt bad. I went to the doctor again and he said try 3 hours instead of 1-2 I have stuck to that for the last month and had no problems at all.
