Hi all. I am also new to this site. I am joining because I am interested in finding answers to help me with some of my issues. I was banded in March 2010. I initially lost about 55 lbs. I started at 295 and am now at about 240. I am 5' 8'' male and 38yrs old. I still would like to hopefully get down to near 170-180 ish. I have stopped losing weight now for about 2-3 months. Of course I am to blame. I have not always ate well and still tend to spend alot of time spitting up/regurging. My family Dr. has given me a year to lower my cholesterol or I will have to take meds. I am looking for answers to the best eating plan for me and how to get myself on track.

Why are you spitting up/PBing? Are you not chewing your food and taking small bites? Too tight? Figure that out first then move from there.

It's up to you to eat right and get yourself back on track. Some people like to go back to the beginning and go on liquids then soft foods then solids. Others do the 5-day pouch test (Google it). If you aren't logging everything you eat, it may now be ideal to start doing so. Be sure you are getting all of your Water in and make sure your Protein levels are at least 60g; I think for men it's more around 75g or even 80g a day.

Good luck and congrats on your loss thus far!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
