I have been doing a biggest loser challenge for 9 wks now. I have lost BUT I have only lost 1/2 of what my non banded friends have lost. It's frustrating because I don't know what else I can do!!>!>!>!>!?!?! I am losing 1/2 lb to 1 lb a wk. I would like to push it up to 2 lbs a week. Been eating 1000-1200 cals a day. I am increasing my exercise and drinking my Water. UUUGGGGG!!! Maybe I need to see nutritionist??? THX ahead!

How much have you upped your exercise? Generally when you up your exercise, (ie. longer running time, more weight, more cardio, etc) your calories need to follow :) Maybe try eating 100 calories more a day, if not 200. Play around and see what works.

Maybe if you change the way you do things it will kick your metabolism in the rear, I heard that if you get out of your regular routine and add something different you will get it going again. Don't get frustrated because we are all going through it. Just do something different, like only taking walks instead of working out at the gym, and make sure to drink you 64 oz of Water and your Vitamins.

Heidib, I feel your pain. I am a slow loser. You mentioned .5-1 lb a week. I am averaging 1. It could be you will just be a slow loser. Frustrating I know. Are you at restriction yet? It has taken me 6 months to get there and hopefully I will start losing faster. Remember the research shows an average of 1-2 pounds a week so I would plan on being happy at 2 if you can get there.

I have a very conservative diet and exercise an hour a day 7 days a week so somethings are just the way they are.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
