Plastic Surgery - Round 1!

Recommended Posts

Well, I'm all set with my "first" round of plastic surgery:

Arm Lift

Boob Lift (no need for implants...... whew!)

extra consideration to skin hanging "between" boobs and arms

Tummy Tuck with muscle tightening (and a bit of a vag lift? who knew they did such things?!)

My insurance blows chunks, so they're not paying anything.

My bill for this will be about $17,600 (if I opt for the $400 overnight stay..... probably will)

My surgery is scheduled for June 17th.

My surgeon said I needed to be within 20 pounds of goal, and I am totally THERE.

I'm super sensitive to most all narcotics, save Vicodin (thank GOD...)

I'm taking 3 weeks off of work...... is that enough?? I'm a graphic artist, so I'm on the computer all day.

Congratulations! I have read that it takes approximately 3 weeks to begin walking upright. Everyone is different, historically it all depends on how well your body normally recuperates during such stress. Keep us posted.

I had the arm lifts and Tummy Tuck (but very little muscle work) on March 2, 2011 so I'm almost 3 weeks post op. You DEFINITELY want to stay overnight, and you will need to be sure you have someone to help you when you get home. I was lucky to be sent from the surgical center to the university health center infirmary for four nights, and having help, especially trained staff, deal with surgical drains, getting me up and down, and dealing with pain control was a godsend.

My surgeon said that it's the muscle work that adds to the healing and pain for the TT patient. If it's mostly skin, it heals faster and hurts less. Ask your doctor how much work he's planning to do, muscle-wise.

I'd put three weeks off as a minimum. You're having multiple procedures that will heal at different times. You want to be sure you can get around easily and sit comfortably. I'm planning to go back on Thurs. of this week, which will be 3 weeks plus give me two work days and a weekend to help rest up if I need it.

Good luck!

is it gurantee i'll have hanging skin post-op???? I really dnt want PP

Not necessarilly. I spoke to the PA in my office about it pre-band and he said that some people's skin does bounce back. I was not one of those people, so I am looking at a TT (hopefully over the summer). But your skin could biunce back on it's own.

a lot of recovery time depends on your own personal way of doing things, if you get sick/weak on a fairly regular basis (not being critical, some people are more prone) then three weeks would be minimum. i'm not a person who gets sick and i've always bounced back from any trauma or surgery so for me 3 weeks would be okay. and the Tummy Tuck will be the most painful, if they do it "right" it will be involving muscle and whoever said "walk upright" has it right, straightening up is the hardest part because all those muscles are "shorter"

that being said you can "splint" your stomach with a small pillow and that can help, the sooner you're up and about the faster you'll heal the better you'll feel--congrats on meeting your goal, i'm still debating the plastic surgery, on the fence

anyway, i am a RN and did a couple years in a plastic surgery 23 hour stay clinic so i've seen about every elective surgery they have

pay special attention to the lifting restrictions (like dont lift over 10/20 pounds) thats the most common way patients "f'" up their surgery

GOOD LUCK!!!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
