3 weeks after first fill. Hopefully, it gets better..

Recommended Posts

My doctor gave me a 4cc fill in a 10cc band, and I could feel the difference for the first few days- I would eat a small plate of food and feel satisfied. After that, though, I felt like my old self. I could eat 3 plates if I didn't stop myself.. I'm trying to stay on track (and am doing a fair job so far) but honestly, if I could do the willpower-thing well, I don't think I would have a weight issue in the first place. I'm wondering how long I can stay on the wagon.. I'm hoping that with another fill, I can get back to where I was. I'm thinking about re-joining Weight Watchers. Maybe it can help me not go crazy with food until I can get some support from my band.. UGH! I'm really trying to stay positive... Questions: Is it common to have a restrictive feeling, then have it go away? Is the WW thing a good idea? Does anyone have experience with WW and the band?

You felt restriction for the first few days because you were swollen from the fill. You are in what is known as bandster hell- the time inbetween surgery and getting restriction. Hang in there! It took me 3 fills to feel some restriction. Until you get to restriction, I would focus on eating the right foods (low carb, low fat, high protien) , even if your portions are larger than they will be once you get restriction. You can do it! Best wishes.

I'm at my sweet spot where, on most days, I can eat my meal and go 4-5 hours before getting hungry. The band is a fickle creature, though, and will loosen and tighten on its own so on any given day I might have to white knuckle it through the hunger.

Yes, it is very normal for fills to either be effective for the first week or so and then disappear; or for you not to notice anyting and then suddenly the fill "takes". My doctors office says it's because the the fill moves within the band. Also as you reach restriction the band will tighten and loosen depending on the time of day (tighter in the morning, looser at night) and your stress level (the stomach is made of muscle)and Water retention (esp if you are female).

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
