MichelleMiner 0 Posted February 28, 2011 I am a 13 months post-op; my port flipped about 5 months after my surgery and I just found out that it has flipped AGAIN! Has anyone else had this? Did they figure out what was making it happen? I have been careful with what I eat; so I don't vomit... (before and after my flips) . My PA and surgeon have never seen a port flip more than once and are at a loss why it has flipped again. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
reverie 49 Posted February 28, 2011 Are you doing a lot of heavy lifting? Ab exercises? I'm not sure.
lovemysgt 4 Posted February 28, 2011 WOW THAT IS SCARY TO HAVE THAT MANY FLIPS. IF THAT HAPPENED TO ME I WOULD JUST HAVE IT REMOVED. ISNT IS TEAR UP INSIDE AFTER ALL THE RIPPED STITCHES?
MichelleMiner 0 Posted March 5, 2011 I don't do any extremely heavy lifting, just normal stuff like groceries and school books. I don't do much for exercise except walking/jogging & stretching. It isn't painful having my port flipped, it just feels weird. Thanks for the insight you give!
CheckYes 46 Posted March 5, 2011 Please don't take this the wrong way but is your surgeon really experienced with the band? I'm just wondering if it is an installation issue.
mominoc 11 Posted March 5, 2011 What does 'flipped' mean? Thanks
topazz 4 Posted March 7, 2011 A flipped port is exactly what it means. The port lays flat so that the side that faces outside of the body is where they insert the fill. If it flips, that side faces inside the body and you cannot access it to put in the saline.
