Swollen Abdomen!!! Help am I the only one?

Recommended Posts

Ok so I had my Surgery 02/16/2011 and I had a hernia -so I'm not sure if this is the cause but when I was a 7 days post op I noticed my stomach started to swell kinda towards the left above my belly button, now it started at 7 days post op and today I am 11 days post op and it doesnt look like its going down the dr did not mention anything about swelling to me maybe its nothing, maybe its from the hernia, is this normal? I am going to call them tomorrow just wanted some input Thanks

sounds like it may be your port, did he say what type of hernia usually they just fix a hiatal hernia which is at the top of your stomach where it meets the diaphragm. I would ask if its your port mine is swollen as well still feel it if it feels like there is hard lump under it its more than likely your port but its always good to call your dr! :)

Thanks for the advice I called my dr but of course he wont be back till tomorrow, however my hernia was repaired on my diaphragm so i'm kinda thinking maybe its just swollen from that I hope anyways, I think they told me my port is going on the right so it cant be the port cause the swelling is on the left, but then again I could be wrong I hope I find out soon though it kind of has me worried

I was banded on 2/17 along with the hernia repair and am still swollen. I've lost 19 lbs and can't really see a difference in my tummy area because of the swelling. It'll go down soon I'm sure.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
