Am I too tight?

Recommended Posts

I just received my 3rd fill. Before the fill I only had pbing if I ate too much or ate too fast. Since the fill it seems any meet I try to eat ends up making me sick. Is this normal? Is this the restriction I should have had all along? chicken, pork chops etc. I cant seem to eat but a couple of bites now at best. Thanks

I was wondering the same thing. I just had my fourth fill and I have a problem eating as well. I have pb a couple of times and i can feel everything going down. Not sure if this is how its supposed to be. Im going to wait another week and if it gets too bad I'm going to get a little taken out. Good luck

I was overfilled once and I didn't have any problems knowing that it was too tight. I was not able to even get a sip of Water to stay down and I kept having foamy liquid come up.

You don't say when you got your fill, that is important. For the first four or five days you will likely have swelling and you should take it easy with liquids or soft foods until the swelling goes down. If you are taking small bites and chewing and the food is staying down then you are probably ok. Tougher meats are going to go down slow. But if you can't take in liquids go back right away because you can get dehydrated very quickly.

Sounds like you have restriction, whether it is too much is up to you. As long as I can take in liquids and get some soft food down, I like to wait a week for the swelling to go away then see how I feel. If it is too much restriction for you then go back.

How long ago did you have your fill? Have you had stuck episodes since your fill?

Some people have an immediate reaction (swelling) after a fill. Every stuck episode will contribute to more swelling. If you can keep liquids down, then I would immediately go right back to liquids for a couple days, then try eating small bites/chewing well of softer foods. If you have no problem with those, advance to more solid foods. This will allow time for any swelling to go down to determine if you're too full...or if you just created a situation with your stuck (evidenced by sliming) episodes.

According to my surgeon, I should be able to eat 3 oz of Protein and at least 1/2 cup of vegies...and I shouldn't get stuck, assuming I'm following all the rules.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
