Am I too tight?

Recommended Posts

I just received my 3rd fill. Before the fill I only had pbing if I ate too much or ate too fast. Since the fill it seems any meet I try to eat ends up making me sick. Is this normal? Is this the restriction I should have had all along? chicken, pork chops etc. I cant seem to eat but a couple of bites now at best. Thanks

How long since the fill? Usually you go on liquids only for a couple days then mushies then whole food. when you get a fill (and when you overeat) the stomach swells so there is extra restriction. You should take it slow and work back up to whole foods. Chew very well (30 chews per bite, small bites).

I agree for the first 24 hours full liquids, next 24 mushies. If it has been more than 48 hours and you can't eat 3 0z of solid Protein I would call your doctor and see about an unfill.

Consider what the fill actually is and what it does, more restriction is the normal result. How we adapt to that is learning how to manage our postBand lifestyle. Personally I LOVE being 'full' on only a bite or 2. Usually within a week or so I don't feel so full....but there IS the fact some foods require caution and decrease volume intake. Cut your bites into chicklet sized and chew thoroughly until you learn how to manage the new fill. And liquids the first few days post fill work best for me too.

I'm interested in what Banded Bob said,,, "when you over eat,,, it causes your stomach to swell. This is the first time I've heard this, but since I had a bad first of the week with birthday parties, kid's being home for Spring Break, eating out,,, I've been really suffering with my band the past couple of days. Seems even Water is gurgling up a storm to get down. I have an appointment with my doc on Monday, but it makes sense what Banded Bob said.

Besides this issue,,, I agree with all that was said. I've had my band since Oct. 2009 and although there have been a few bumps in the road, I'm still thankful that I had the surgery. My doctor always tells me after a fill to do liquids for a day or two and take it very slow.

Thanks for the info Banded Bob:-)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
