reverie 49 Posted February 27, 2011 Could be eating too fast or too big of bites. I have yet to master eating slowly so I know exactly the pain you're feeling. Try to slow it down! I've been working on putting the fork down between bites and really chewing. It helps.

amber020682 0 Posted February 27, 2011 I get that sharp pain in my upper back...just below my neck, right between my shoulders. It can REALLY hurt sometimes. I find it mainly happens when I eat too fast, or eat too much. I think it's pressure building up due to those types of things.
honk 780 Posted February 27, 2011 I think you are taking to big a bite and not chewing enough. Even six months out I find myself chewing only a few times before reaching for the next forkfull. I have tell myself "Have you enjoyed this bite yet?" My biggest issue is not tasting/savoring each bite.
BirdGirlEm 1 Posted February 27, 2011 I agree with everyone else. The pain is from food being in your esophagus causing it to spasm (which hurts like all heck). This can happen from eating too fast, eating too large of a bite, not chewing enough, or eating too much. Best bet, eat slowly, chew well, and rest in between bites to avoid overeating. I also find that when it happens with the first few bites that drinking warm liquid before eating helps.
